Question about 2003 Nissan Altima

Crankshaft positioning sensor location?

I've been to 4 auto parts stores, none can show me where this item is physically located on the engine. 1 had a very fuzzy copy that shows it on the driver's side of the block. All I can find is the cam sensor. Can anyone tell me exactly where this item is located? I'd prefer not to pay the dealer to fix.

After you take the plastic cover off the engine, and remove the valve cover breather tube, place a light under the two rubber brake hoses shining foward. Between the valve cover and the throttle chamber look straight down toward the ground see a plug and black sensor with green release held to the engine block with a gold colored 10mm hex headed bolt. There it is. Take your time. Ask if you need anything else. Hope it helped.

IT IS LOCATED ON THE ENGINE BLOCK, AT ABOUT THE  9:00 O-CLOCK POSITION OPPOSITE THE STARTER MOTOR.  THIS IS ON THE LEFT REAR SIDE OF THE ENGINE (NEAREST THE DRIVER)  IT IS SEVERAL INCHES DIRECTLY BELOW THE LEFT-MOST INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER.

Where is the 2010 equinox 3.0 crankshaft position sensor

No instructions with the new part? unusual. I'd ask the store.
But since you are a DIYer, I recommend a repair manual from your auto parts store or filepeep.com or manualslib.com

I can't find the location of the crankshaft postion sensor in my 2000 Hyundai sonata

My online Sonata manual shows these possibilities, but does not identify which applies specifically to 2000 Sonata.
Also, when you talk to the dealership parts counter, you'll need to know whether your 2000 Sonata is (a) 4-cylinder 2.4L MFI DOHC engine, or (b) 6-cylinder 2.5L MFI DOHC engine.
Its easy to tell - just count your spark plug wires.

-- begine excerpt from 2000 Hyundai Sonata Repair guide --

The crankshaft position sensor is located next to the flywheel.
The crankshaft position sensor is located next to the flywheel/torque converter.
The camshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the timing belt cover and under the upper radiator hose.
The crankshaft position sensor is located on the driver-s side of the vehicle, down by the lower radiator hose.
The crankshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the crankshaft pulley.
The crankshaft position sensor is located at the front of the engine near the timing belt.

The 3.3/3.8L crankshaft sensor is located on the rear of the transmission housing, above the differential housing The bottom of the sensor is positioned next to the drive plate. Remove the 10mm bolt holding the sensor in place and remove the sensor. Install the new crankshaft sensor.
Install crankshaft sensor bolt and tighten. Connect wiring. merry christmas !!

Where is the crankshaft position sensor located

look for a very small sensor with 2 or 3 wires coming from it. usually on the side of the harmonic balancer pulley in a bracket. don't confuse it with the camshaft position sensor usually located more on top of that pulley below the end of the camshaft. any auto parts store can tell you or even show you where it is at.

Find crank position sensor

The crankshaft position sensor should be located behind the vibration damper/harmonic balancer and it will have to be removed before the crankshaft position sensor can be replaced. (Let me know if you require assistance with the proceedure)

Also, it usually requires a special tool to align that sensor (available from most auto part stores) and if the sensor is not properly aligned then damage to the sensor or the tone ring can occur.

Here is an image of the crankshaft position sensor with the vibration damper/harmonic balancer removed.
