SOURCE: wont start

is the earth cable giving a good engine and body contact.does your starter have two terminals and if so are they the right way around?is the battery any good?Is the engine able to be turned over by hand Make sure you have agood 12v supply to the starter solenoid when cranking the engine An engine test probe/light would be of a lot of use for you to do that test

change your battery cables and check all wires on the alternator for loose connections, expecially the grounds.

SOURCE: 87 f250 drained brand new battery

I would first have the alternator checked by an auto electrician to ensure it is working correctly and is providing the correct volume of current. It may be faulty and when driving you will be drawing battery power instead of power from the alternator to run the electrics. This will drain the battery.

Alternators do not last forever and if you are still running the original unit it is likely to be on it's last legs and you will need a replacement unit.

You still have two components that need checking...perhaps you have a bad battery cable?! They do corrode inside sometimes making the battery hard pressed to send the current needed to run the starter. You may get enough amps and volts to run the lights but not enough for the starter.

You can try jumping the starter with jumper cables just to see if the works. You can leave the car in park and key off since the only thing you want to do is turn the starter.

you need a draw test done on the car to start to diagnois the problem.it can take a few days to find the problem and should be done by a tech that knows how to check for electrical draws as its not an easy job to do and if you don`t know how to do this you may not find the problem or may jump to the wrong conclusion.

My tempo's amp light is flashing, and the lights dim and go brighter, kinda like a flicker would it be the alternator?

It sounds as if it is a charging problem and I would recommend going to Auto zone they will test the entire system for free.

1990 ford tempo starts but will die after about 10 minutes. the power from the battery is drained and we just bought a brand new battery for it.

Try to start again, then when the engine is start, remove the negative or positive battery cable, and if the engine die, the alternator is failed., and if not dying, alternator still good. But for me the way you said, I'm 100% your alternator is died. Need to replace a new one. And if you know how to solder, just remove and replace the brusses( carbon) by soldering. ok

My tempo stoped running wile driving in the snow. smoke or steam was cumming out of the back of the engine now my tempo wont start the engine wont even turn to try to start

Take care of cranking 1st, check battery see if it's good, try to get a jump start see if it will turn over, could be a bad alternator or battery.

My tempo will not start it clicks but no chug

Is the battery more than 5 years old? Pull it and take it to your local Advance or Auto Zone or Pep Boys, etc. and have it tested. Chances are it's defective. If not, then check battery cables for corrosion - clean'em anyway!

1994 ford tempo will not start only clicks

Hook your voltage tester to the battery, then have a helper try to start the car. Watch the voltage when you hear the click. If it drops much under 12v then odds are the battery is no good. Have it load tested at your local autoparts store

Car stalls

do the rpm's seem higher when at idle than they used to? is your gas mileage worse than it used to be or than you think it should be? sounds like an idle air problem. when you go to idle, like at a stop, the computer has to modify the fuel and air to keep the engine running. if the air system is compromised this will cause all of the above problems. check your air filter. make sure its clean. check your air intake tube for cracks. just after the filter will be the 'mass air flow sensor' the tube between this and the throttle body (on the intake manifold) MUST be free of cracks or holes. check all vacuum lines as well. any kind of vacuum leak will cause these problems.
