How to tighten alternator belt on 1993 pathfinder

Four cylinder engine - loosen bottom pivot bolt on alternator, then loosen top bolt and pull the alternator away from the engine to tighten belt. When at proper tension, tighten top bolt to hold tension and tighten bottom pivot bolt.
Six cylinder engine - loosen the lock bolt at the bottom of the alternator, then use the adjustment bolt (perpendicular to the lock bolt) to tighten the belt tension. Once properly tensioned, tighten the lock bolt.

I do not see a tension bolt on my truck. only the top and bottom alternator bolts. Am I supposed to have one.

The top bolt fits into a slide ... ? That is, if you loosened all the bolts the top bolt would be able to slide in a hole.
Image below is generic:

Hello,

To replace the starter of a 1998 toyota corolla, please follow the steps below:
  1. Remove the key from the ignition, and remove the battery, do not attempt this with the battery in car.
  2. Remove the battery and tray.
  3. Look to the rear of the engine, You'll see the top of the starter, loosen and remove the 14mm bolt/nut holding it down below,
  4. Drain the radiator and remove the lower radiator hose. This will let You squeeze the starter around the AC line,
  5. Then install the new starter, the one bolt You removed from the bottom, screw the last 14mm bolt on the starter into the transmission loosely,
  6. Go up top, reinstall the top bolt, tighten this firmly but not all the way,
  7. Go below, tighten the bottom bolt to final spec.
  8. Reattach all the wires, make sure the trigger wire is snapped in fully.
  9. Go up top, firmly firmly tighten to spec the top bolt,
  10. Reinstall everything You removed up top the below,
  11. Reinstall the battery and make sure the ignition is off while doing this,

How do I replace the alternator on a 1996 Nissan Maxima?

This alternator has two mounting bolts, one on top (adjuster) and one at bottom (main bolt) You need to untight the top one but not completely, take the poly belt of. Than take the bottom bolt out and remove top one when holding the alternator. Put the new one in place but this time use the bottom bolt first, do not tight it completely, than put the belt on the pulley and use the top bolt. You will need to tight the bottom bolt, than pull the alternator with some bar but gentle to get the belt tight, hold it and than tight the top bolt.
