SOURCE: Pontiac Fiero Heater Core

no its actually really easy i just did it about 3 weeks ago. right under the dash on the passenger side the is a black box unscrew the cover on the side of it and the heater core is right there then you have to  disconnect the hoses under the hood which might be the hardest part after that unbolt the straps holding the heater core on. I keep the straps on till i get the hoses off because then the heater core don't move when you are trying to get the hoses off. Then all you have to do is put it back together.

SOURCE: How do replace heater core in 2002 Pontiac Gran Prix

i do believe you have to take the passengers side dash apart behind the glove compartment. go to autozone and get a manual or go to the library and check the chiltons manual. this is not an easy job. how bad is the leak? if its not bad these heater cores are made of all aluminum. i would buy a bottle of that radiator additive and see if that takes care of the problem first. it only cost about 5 bucks a bottle and it may permanantly fix your problem.

How to replace heater core in 2006 Pontiac G6? I am at the last steps. Cant seem to get the heater core out?Am I taking the ac out with the heater core?

The heater core is part of the car's engine cooling system and is not part of the AC. They share only the fan used to move the cool or heated air provided by the AC or heater.

did you replace the actuator that drives the door for the heater core or cable? make sure both water lines going to the heater core are getting hot, if only one is the mix door is not working properly

No heat in Pontiac g6 2007

troubleshoot!
are the heater hoses (firewall) gettin just as hot as the radiator hoses? If not, focus on blockage in the heater core.
If they are same temperature, might be a mechanical/vacuum malfunction in the climate control system.

Heater core

May not be heater core, sounds like leaking water into car from some other source.Low coolant could be engine gasket related Check for coolant leaks in engine compartment & under car.
Also check for water leak at winshield before replacing heater core.
