Question about 1991 Chevrolet C1500

1 Answer

I have a 1996 buick roadmaster with approx. 230000 km. When I turn the key it clicks at the starter but wont engage. If I turn the key on and short the two terminals on the starter it will start or somtimes if I just move the starter slightely then the key will start it.I have replaced the starter and the problem seems the same.

Where is the started located on the 1993 buick roadmaster? The car will not start?

from the driver seat , it is on right side of engine, at bottom, in front of the trans bell housing. If it clicks fast when you turn the key, tap on the solenoid and the starter. If it has single click , probably starter problem or solenoid, replace both.

Won't start, no click, leave for a while turn key it starts.

See if pulling up on the shifter lever makes it start.  You may have a bad switch.  Or try cleaning the battery terminals and retightening the battery terminals solves the problem.

Car will not start

Recheck the battery, the starter doesn't care if your battery gives 12 volts, it needs CCA (Cold Cranking Amps),  Autozone will test this for free where I live, most likely where you live too.
