Question about Cars & Trucks
My 96 Taurus won't turn over. Dash lights will come one, battery checks out, starter and solenoid check out, ignition switch checks fine. Leave car alone for 2 hours will crank no problem. Believe it is a security system short out, how do I override the panel when my locks are electric but my key is manual?
You can't override the security system on this car, if it was easy what good would it be. You will need the dealer to scan the system to see why it is activating and locking out the engine start.

Try cleaning the battery connectors at both ends and make sure the ground at the frame is clear of rust. If that check out, drop the starter and have it bench tested

SOURCE: car will not crank over
Check the fuse box and make sure no fuses are blown. I had the same problem with my honda motorbike and thought the worst of it but then checked the fuses and found that one had blown. Once replaced the bike was fine!
Hope this helps you in someway! Good luck!
