So I didn't realize it was submitting a question... so let me give more information. My Daughter's car was making a horrible noise, smoking. I popped th hood and looked with my flashlight. Followed the smoke to the AC Compressor saw it was smoking. I got a real treat when I turned off my flashlight and saw the AC Pulley was glowing red. Had the daughter turn off the AC and things cooled down. Sounds like I need to replace the pulley. Agteed?

Replaced lower ac compressor belt and belt spins but the pulley doesnt

The pulley bearing is locked up or the AC compressor is seized up.

Seized ac compressor, can I bypass with ashorter belt, with out removing ac compressor

If the compressor itself has failed, you can unplug the clutch and leave the belts as they are. If it is the pulley bearing that failed, replace it, it does not cost all that much.

A/C pulley bearing seized

Is it seizing with the AC on? Or Off? Or both? If it is seizing even with the AC is on and off then this is an internal issue with the compressor, replace the compressor. If it is only doing it while turned on and is still blowing cold air then replace the clutch pulley.

What size serpentine belt does a 1988 chevy 1500 pickup take when you bypass the AIR pump?

you can change the clutch on the Ac compressor which has the bearing in it so if the bearing is seized you only have to change the clutch on the end and then you can have your AC working as well without changing the belt ,these clutch units are that expensive and if you can remove the bearing and just replace the bearing on its own then the bearing is about 20 euros or so .

My truck quit running last night and would not turn over the motor - I do not believe it is seized - it had plenty of oil. The battery is still strong and a jump made no difference. It seemed to me that...

yes, it can. Anything with a pulley and a bearing can seize up from the air pump, to the alternator, to the idler tension pulley, to, yes, the a/c compressor.

2004 trailblazer truck surges and shuts off when AC is turned on. This is not an compressor or freon problem because with foot on padel ac system works and cools very well.

It's your automatic A/C Clutch bearing. The computer tells the clutch to engage and it connects to the compressor but the bearing is shot and attempts to seize thus slowing the motor. I would not run the A/C until the unit is repaired.

If the ac compressor clutch gives was can this make the engine stop?

If the bearing for the belt pulley on the compressor seizes, the engine can quit and even appear to be seized as well. Remove the a/c belt and try to start the engine.

Ac clutch going out on 93 dodge dakota

If the clutch is noisy from a bad bearing then don't drive far,if the compressor clutch pulley bearing seizes up it will freeze the pulley and the belt will burn off, and you are stuck, if you mean the anything else besides this drive it.
