Very possible the heater core may be leaking, causing the steam to come through the defroster and dash.

My 2001 jeep grand cherokee has a dark mist/smoke coming out of the vents, and defroster. But, the heater works fine. What could it be?

DO NOT USE STOP LEAK!!!!!! That stuff has no brain so you cant tell it to plug only specific leaks. It will go for the easiest hole to plug which can be a water port in the cooling jacket for the cyl heads. replace the heater core. Fix it right or bypass but please please please do not use anything that will stop a leak

How do i change a leaking evaporator core.

the entire dash, door to door top to bottem has to be removed to be able to take out hvac housing so you can take apart to get at the core [recomend do heater core at same time] the dash comes out as an entire unit guages and all. bolts on ends under plastic covers,on top near winshield under vent trim.,bolts on floor in center below radio and a/c controlls, steering column has to come out. multiple wire connectors etc. its an all day job for a pro so its going to take awhile but its pretty straight forward

My 1994 Honda Accord windows wont defrost and a white mist comes from the vent when on what might be the problem

If the white mist has a sweet smell to it then you need to replace the heater core under the dash. Hope this helps.

I have a BMW X5 4.4L 2001 model. The problem is with the air quality. There seems to be some smell coming out of the aircon and sometimes smoke comes in also.

The air/con ducts can get a buildup of '****' in them. The dealer will charge a lot to fix this.Get some Glen 20(anti-bacterial spray) and with the vents in recirculating cycle, spray it in the inlet vents under the dash in the footwell area. Also get a spray called odour-off.Use this also. For about 10 dollars you can fix the problem. It works. The smoke coming out is usually condensation mist and nothing to worry about.Hope this helps

if it is water or a sweet smelling liquid it is your heater core leaking, pull back the carpet and see just how wet it is, look also for vapor on the windsheild and also with fan on high sometime you can see a mist coming from the defrost vents on the dash... please rate my help, thanks...

Heater won't blow warm air

doesn't sound like the thermostat, but the heater core, USUALLY located up (WAY UP) under the dash board, on the passenger side of the car. Do you ever smell anti-freeze, or have trouble with the windshield fogging/misting up on the inside of the car??
