Question about Nissan Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

1998 nissan altima does not start

The battery and brake lights were on when one night the car died while I was driving. I was able to jump start it and get it home. The next day the car didn't start. My husband thought it would be the alternator so we replaced it. The battery is recharched but the car still won't turn on. What could be wrong?

If your battery is fine and your alternator fine, then please check your ignition switch for wear. You can try a spare key in the ignition and try wiggling the key in the ignition whilst turning to see if there is a loose connection in there. Please report back after checking.

Does the engine crank or do you get a click noise. if you getting a clicking then the start is bad, if the engine is cranking you will need see if are getting gas to the engine and also spark to the spark plugs. if it cranks then look at a crank position sensor

2004 Nissan Altima 3.5L BATTERY LIGHT went on during 15 minute drive. Next day car "died" while idling after a 20 minute drive. BRAKE WARNING LIGHT & BATTERY LIGHT on prior to full electrical failure.

Start with checking the alternator voltage with a multimeter. With the car off check the voltage in the battery which should be holding 12v charged less if flat of course then start the car and test the battery again. If the alternator is good you should be getting a reading of 14 to 14.5 v if it's the alternator it'll A) not put any charge into the battery or B) be a very low voltage being anything under 13.5 v

Battery and brake lights on then the car dies.It will jump start, then die once battery drained again.

I'd try getting another alternator to start. You might have gotten a bad one.

Why does 2003 Nissan Altima brake and battery light intermittently come on car die like it has dead battery then start and seem fine?

Easy fixes would be to check and clean relays and fuses, check the battery cables, and the grounding cable. Might be the starter solenoid also.

Grounding cable usually goes from the starter to the chassis, or from the engine to the chassis.

The cable might seem okay on top, but can be corroded (if it's copper, it's most likely oxidized through and can't get a contact.)

Have you checked your "knock sensor" or cam sensor? It tracks cam and or crank movement for timing.

My P11 1998 Nissan Primera Si 1600 twincam developed a fault one morning. It wouldn't start on the battery, but would bump start. Long story short: bumped the car to start it, and left it running to charge...

I would check the fuses first to make sure you didnt blow any out from all the battery change, jump starting, bump starting etc. Not sure if your battery was dead originally with the fault showing. You may have a bad alternator. Usually when the fault light comes on you can still drive on the battery for a distance, then the battery will drain/die.

Battery light means the alternator is not charging so if you keep driving it eventually the battery will die. The brake light may be on if the emergency brake lever is pulled even a little bit.

2005 nissan altima won't start, clicking noise is heard

It sounds like your battery is dead. You may be able to fix this with a jump start if you left your lights on over night. If a good jump does not work it may be your starter. but you should start with the simple and cheap solution first. Try having someone jump start your car.

Car won't start

It sounds like your battery has had it! IF you can jump start it, try to go to a battery store or a service garage to have your battery and alternator checked. If no other warning lights were previously on, it is possible that the battery just up and died. Otherwise, I would suspect the alternator.
Also, make sure teh parking brake is NOT engaged while driving.
