My 96' Mystiques heater will not produce warm air, but the car does not over heat. Thought this might be a heater core issue but now I am second guessing that. What else could it be?

If the heater hoses are getting hot, and the radiator is full of coolant, you could have a problem with one of the blend doors under the dash. The blend doors direct air flow thru the heater core and the vents.

it can be the thromstat, but have you check to see if both heater core hoses are getting hot. if only one is getting hot then you need a heater core

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Some vehicles from that era used vacuum pressure to control heating/cooling baffles. If you have a bad vacuum leak, then the baffle will never swap over from vent/cooling to heating.

Heater

THE STOP LEAK MAY HAVE PLUGGED YOU HEATER CORE TUBES, BUT AT THE SAME TIME CHECK THE HEATER CONTROL VALVE. IT MAY BE RUSTED OR CORRODED AND INOPERABLE. IT WILL BE LOCATED ON ONE OF THE TWO HOSES THAT RUN TO YOUR HEATER. I WOULD START WITH THE HEATER CONTROL VALVE. GOOD LUCK.

Heater not working, blower does work but not hot

Sounds like Heater matrix blocked, check pipes going from engine bay into bulk head both should be getting hot if one is not then may be worth removing pipes and trying to flush it through as would be expensive to renew it as its a large job.
