Question about Cars & Trucks
Some cars call for power steering fluid, and some call for DOT brake fluid. For the 740iL BMW which do I fill the power steering reservoir. Yes, this seems like an obvious answer. However, I have found contradictions to type of fluid.

Dexron III ATF is what BMW called for in the power steering pump in these models. However, GM no longer makes a type-III ATF!
Nice thing about GM Dexron specifications is that any higher numbered fluid meets the requirements of previous, lower numbered fluids. What does this mean? Siphon out as much as the old junk as you can. Refill with Dexron III and if you cannot find that? A common on the shelf *upgraded* synthetic fluid can be found in Dexron VI that more than adequately surpasses previous Dex-III specifications. So use with confidence! Pour and forget...

They don't put a fill tube on them . It's suppose to be life time fluid. Must be filled from the fill hole and the plug is on the right rear side of the trans.
Hope this has helped
