Question about 2011 Kia Sorento
I was previously having issues with starting my car. I would turn the key and it sounded like it was going to start then it would go dead then it would all of a sudden start. They told me i needed a new battery...now take into consideration this car is only about a year old. So I bought a new battery. Now yesterday I was driving down the interstate doing around 65 or so and my car made a thunk noise then went completely dead....radio turned off, engine lite came on then suddenly the car came back on. Yes, it scared the daylights out of me. I didn't know if I should drive it or not. Needless to say, it's in the shop but I'm thinking they'll probably tell me there isn't anything wrong with it. Has anyone had this problem and if so, what was done?
The loose cable sounds plausible. Since it could have lost connection and then reconnected so was able to get up again and maybe didn't notice the first time. It couldn't be a battery cable however unless it was touching something else and shoting because you dont need your battery after the vehicle is started anyway,

You may need a starter. My 99 Kia would get me places and would refuse to start. Someone hit the starter with a wrench and it started right up. I had to hit the starter to get my Kia to start until I replaced it.
Hope this helps.

My 2004 Kia Rio just started losing compression and died on me. I tried starting it and it only clicks. I checked the battery cables and they are not corroded and very tight. Could it be the battery or the alternator not charging the battery? there is no water in the oil and it's not the water pump.

Take it in for a diagnostic check.Thats the only way you will save money and the exact defect fixed rather then just poking in the dark.It could be something minor or the computer playing up.Cheaper to get diagnostic done than to be buying parts.
