If your reconnecting the battery the negatives wire from the battery needs to be bolted to a good earth location there should be a bolt in the close area of the battery going through the bodywork of the vehicle. Just clean the area first from loose paint, rust or dirt bolt negative cable to bodywork

SOURCE: 2000 Cavalier will not start due to anti theft wire

NO, you will need to have Mr. Chop Shop fix it, or take it to a real mechanic and send him the bill.

2000 Cavalier 2.2: Put in new starter. 2 days & it

The battery and alternator may have been ok.
You have a fuse or fuseable link between the alternator and battery to protect it. If you have battery voltage at the battery post and not at the alternator post, there is a break in that circuit.
If the battery cable goes to the starter, the alternator wire may go from there and that could be where the fuseable link is.
Fuseable links are special thin wires that act like fuses.

I had the battery replaced, there is one positive and one negative wire, but then there is a third wire that connects to the negative (?) terminal coming from the radiator fan yes or does this one...

where does the wire go to? and waht color is it? If it is red then it will go to the positive side, if it is black it will go to negative side. If the wire is any color other than those try putting it on the negative side first and start the car up and see if the fan kicks in. If it doesnt kick in after several minutes of idle time try connecting it to the positive side. If it sparks then put it back on the negative side. Thats what i would do in your case. Good luck

Put in a starter in a 1994 cavalier, but dont know if the wires got hooked up right.. the starter and battery are fine butthe battery light wont turn off even if there is no key in and when i turn the...

There is definately a wiring reconect issue here. I would say that most likely you have the positive and negative connections at the starter solenoid reversed.

Anyway to hook up an amp power wire w/o unhooking battery?

There should be a large red wire going to your fuse box under the hood. You can put it there. You can unhook your battery also your computer should be fine. Think about it if everytime someone changed a bad battery they would have to go to dealer not true. What you have heard some older cars the computer can be reset by removing the negative. I take the positive off all the time on cars your age and have never had any problems

Starter is gone, i want to replace it myself, what do i need to do? its a 2000 chevy cavalier

A good start would be to get a good quality repair manual, but you can go to autozone.com and register, input the year make and model and they have a fairly good online repair guide for your car.

My 95 cavalier.when i put it in gear all my lights come on in the dash but my cheack eng light is not on,or my oil light.also my day light running lights dont work eather.what could be the problem.

On my Cav, the battery plate had rusted/corroded away pretty good. The negative battery cable runs from the battery to the battery plate and then to the bolt on the engine. The place where the battery cable connected to the plate rusted apart. I attempted a fix by running a wire from the spot on the cable where it was connected and ground it myself, but that didn't work. Anyways, I handed it over to the mechanic and they found additional ground wire UNDER the battery plate that had also been rusted/corroded through. They replaced the ground wires and ALMOST all the lights went off. The exceptions were the ABS light will sometimes come on, but this is due to a failure in the ABS unit (which is like $400) to fix. The only light is the daytime runner light and I really didn't care about that one. :) Hope this helps.
