Sounds like this is water condensation from the AC system. There is a drain on the passengers side just aft of the engine under the car.

Your drain hose is under towards the bottom of the car, up against the firewall. You may be able to blow it out from the cowl. You may just have to do a fresh air service which is a special foam that kills the bacteria and such that builds on the evaporator from it sitting.

SOURCE: clear liquid dripping under car near center ac has

have you been using the defroster or defogger because these also run the compressor causing condensation....

since you said there's also condensation near your dash vents, it leads be to believe that the fluid will not be brake fluid or hydraulic fluid.

That would be your antifreeze. You most likely have a leaky hose. If you have any hard, brittle, or spongy hoses, they will need to be replaced. If not leaking from hose, check radiator and water pump. Also heater core nozzles

When I run defrost, there is a bad moldy smell. Only happens on defrost setting. Is there a filter to change somewhere?

The condensation is not completely draining. You may want to see if it is plugged. Find the drain area in the engine compartment on the bottom of the firewall. Use an air compressor to blow air back through to clear it. I had a problem with that area which was a ford expedition design flaw. It was draining onto my O2 Sensor and damaging it. I had to make a bypass with a part form a GM truck.

Leaking water after stopping

Liquids in an auto..... Antifreeze (greenish/clear, watery, with slight oil feel to it, smells somewhat sweet), Power Steering Fluid (very thin oil, usually red tinted), Brake Fluid (very thin oil, clear), Transmission Fluid (very thin, red and kinda of sweet smelling), Motor Oil (amber colored or black, medium viscosity, usually smells acidic), Washer Fluid (usually water). Only other fluid is condensation that drains from the air conditioning drain pan after driving the car and the air conditioner has been on.

It can only be one of the above, really need a lot more information, to even begin to make a guess.

Burning plastic smell from under hood

You will need to check where the liquid is coming from, It may be anything from Air Con, Fuel, Transmission Fluid etc..

The fact you smell burning plastic could be 3 things..

1, Brake pads could smell and burn down if they are on too tight (Had this problem with a trailer). Hence when you apply the brakes it could be squirting brake fluid out due to too much pressure.
- Check brake fluid

2, If the smell and liquid is inside the car (front pass side) it could be the air ducts. Under the dashboard you have air ducts etc for the fans and in car cooling (brother had issue with this)

3, Whatever the fluid is, it could possibly drip onto something hot, unusual for liquid to smell like plastic though, Auto transmission oil smells like fish.

Best bet would be the brakes. Next time you smell it just smell in the wheel mag and see if you can smell it, check the engine fluids often and dont use A/C (Air Con) as that does drip fluid (normal). If it is the brakes smelling you will need to have the lines bled out, tyre places may be able to do this, and possibly new brake pads

Good luck

Transmission problem with 97 camry

The 97 has an allen head(14mm?) drain plug on the pan. Drain the fluid and
exaimine it in a clear container. Good transmission fluid smells like new ATF and is usually red. If yours is dark and smells burnt AND/OR HAS DEBRIS IN IT which I think is likely, you will need a new ******.

There is a puddle in the floor of my 97 saturn, drivers side right in front of my trunk button. Someone said it might be a bad heater core?

There are two things is can be. If the liquid is clear, it is condensation from the A/C evaporator coil and the drain is stopped up. The coil has a drain that drains out under the car, that drain can get stopped up with road debris. Now if the liquid is colored and smells like anti freeze, you have a heater core leaking and it will have to be replaced.

Leaking on front driver carpet but no visual sign of leaking around door or windows. Carpet is drenched and so is cushion underneath carpet.

1. Have you been using your heater and is the smell sticky sweet? If so you're heater core might be leaking.

2. Have you been using you're A/C? If so you may have a clogged or disconnected condensation drain.

I changed the lower raditor hose. Standard remove and replace. No problem. Replaced water and 1 gallon of anti-freeze. Let system warm up and turned on heater. No problems. Test drove and no leaks. Next...

the sweet sickly smell is normal for new anti freeze.once you have run the car for a couple of miles the smell will dissipate.the white foamlike stuff is chalk/lime in the water, harmless.

The driver side floor is soaked and service engine is on

Touch the dampness to your tongue and see if its sweet? If it it is your heater coil. Anti freeze is very sweet tasting but also poisnous so just wash your mouth with water afterwards a the little amount to taste wont hurt you. if you dont want to do that smell the carpet it will have a sweet smell to it. It might just be a broken hose going to the heater.

2004 Chevrolet Tahoe-front passenger side floor is wet

Check the heater core unit located underneath the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle. Even though your car's antifreeze is red, it may appear to be clear when there is only a small amount present. Was the liquid in the vehicle sticky and have any smell to it?
