I can tell you the orange wire is battery power for memory and the yellow wire is power from the key switch.
Sorry the picture is not great.

My nx501 works when my truck is on accessory then I go to start my truck and it shuts down the stereo


It's normal for the stereo to shut down during the engine start - the starter motor draws a lot of power and the voltage drops. If you can't restart the stereo after that it's either a bad wiring (the stereo was attached to the wrong power like during install) or, more likely, the contact key switch is failing and you'll have to replace it.

I need a radio wiring diagram for a Holden Commodore LS 1991


Regardless of colour coding, please follow the following instructions (require multimeter):


Note: Attach multimeter earth wire (black) to the vehicle body. Convenient places may be the metal ignition barrel, the vehicle's car arial plug, cigarette socket body etc.


1) Testing for voltage with key out of the ignition, locate the permanent positive wire. This will wire into the yellow wire on your new stereo. The yellow wire circuit powers the stereo's memory.


2) Testing for voltage again. This time you are testing for a wire which only offers power with the ignition turned on. This one will wire into the red wire on your new stereo, and will power the unit only with the ignition on.


3) Now you know which your vehicle's positive wires are you can now test for an earth wire. Switch the multimeter to the resistance setting. There is one setting which will allow a buzzer to sound once you find continuity. With the ignition off test each wire until you get a buzz and a low resistance reading. This should be your earth wire. Double check this with the ignition in the on position. It should remain the same. If it changes to a positive with the ignition on and with the vehicle's lights switched on, then this is the dimmer feed for the stereo's screen. If you unintentionally found the dimmer feed, then you can ignore this wire, and search again for a wire which only offers an earth.


Now you have your power and earth wires located and can wire these into your stereo before continuing.


4) Next you need to use the stereo's balance and fade controls to allow only one speaker output to work from the stereo. So let's start with Left Front speaker output only. turn the stereo volume to mid way so that you can hear when you have connected to the right speaker. bare the remaining wires on the car side and test combinations of the remaining wires until you find the front left speaker of the car. Wire your stereo's wires once you find the correct connections.


5) Repeat the above steps with all remaining wires, remembering to adjust your stereo's balance and fade controls to only allow one speaker output at a time, to ensure the only one possible channel to work and help you identify which of the car's wires power the speaker you have selected.


Before re-assembly of the dash panel, check that your stereo and all functions work properly, being sure to use your fade and balance controls again to test all speakers individually.


If you want to be extra careful and wire the vehicle's speakers positive and negative, according to your stereo's outputs, not that this makes much difference on standard stereo arrangements, then follow this next step:


Make sure you can see the speakers themselves and connect a 1.5 volt AA or AAA battery to the speaker wires. If the speaker's cone pushes forwards, then the wire you connected to the battery's + terminal is indeed the positive wire and should be wired as such. If the speaker does the reverse, then you have the wires the wrong way around. Do not repeat this test for extended periods as damage may be caused to the speaker circuit.


Tip: Always solder all connections and insulate well from each other. Stereo connections can corrode over time and are prone to movement behind the dash. Poor connections may cause faults and low quality sound.

HI. This could be as simple as a faulty wire or a bad ignition switch assembly. Use the procedure below to isolate the culprit.

1.Check for 12 volts on the large wire attached to the top terminal on the starter relay. It should have battery voltage. If not, the battery, terminals or wire is bad.



2.Check the small wire on the solenoid for power when the key is in the start position. Remove the small wire on the solenoid and have a helper hold the key in the start position. Check the wire for battery voltage. If there is voltage, the starter is bad. If there is no voltage, replace the wire.



3.Check the fuse in the fuse box under the hood on the left fender well. If it is good, check the relay by pulling it out and checking for power at one terminal with the key off. If there is no power, the problem is in the fuse box between the fuse and the relay. If there is power, have the helper hold the key in the start position once again and check for power at another terminal from the ignition key. If there is power, the relay is bad. If there is no power, the starter circuit is suspect.



4.Check to see if there is power to the neutral safety switch if there is no power at the relay. Use the voltmeter to check for power with the key in start. If there is power going in, check for power going out. If there is no power going in, the security system or ignition switch is suspect. If there is power going in and none coming out, the switch is bad. If there is power coming out, the problem is between the neutral switch and the relay.



5 Remove the cover on the bottom of the steering column. Check the solid yellow wire for power when the key is in the start position. If there is no power, the ignition switch is bad.

Stereo help


Make sure the red wire on the unit is hooked up to power. The blue antenna wire is hooked up (or to the factory amplifier) and the yellow wire on the radio is hooked up to a key on power supply. If it works and you lose the memory when you shut the key off, switch the red and yellow wire power supplies.

Car vwill not start.there is battery power;lights hors ex. no sound from starter or engine but i have power.


Check for voltage at starter, has two wire going to it, check small wire while some one turn key to on, should have voltage there with key on on if not have ignition switch check, then check voltage at big wire should have voltage all the time if not check battery terminal's, that wire come's from battery, if you have voltage on both with hammer hit starter while some one hold's key to start, if it start's replace starter.Good luck

Installing an aftermarket stereo in 1996 explorer...sound issues.


You may have a factory amplifier in the rear of the explorer in the right cargo panel. You need to supply power to it by connecting the amp power on (Blue/White I think) in the dash to a power source (such as red on your stereo harness) so it comes on with the key. If you do have the amplifier, that's why you have no sound.

Sounds like you're hooking up an aftermarket stereo. The B+ is for a battery constant-on connection. you can find one with a voltage probe tool (looks like a pointed screw driver with a grounding wire attached... and a light bulb in the hande. You can probe for a b+ connection by connecting the ground clip to a solid grounding point and probe for a wire that is "hot" while the key is off. For the acc wire, find a wire with the key on that is hot, but goes off when the key goes off. There are several posibilities and any will work, as long as your lines to the stereo have a fuse.. Battery Draining


Disconnect the stereo and watch the condition of the battery. Most of the time the stereo gets power out of the battery even when engine is off.

I need help


IT is very simple to do without knowing which color is which. You do this by getting a voltmeter from Radioshack, etc.

You Need to find these 3 wires.
Ground
12+ Battery (has voltage to it without key in ign)
12+ Accessory (has voltage only when key forward or in acc position)

Once you found these, the others are speaker wires. Turn the stereo on and clip one of them and listen which speaker quits working. Reconnect the clipped wire by stripping off a little bit of insulation and then find its mate. Do this over and over to figure out which speaker wire is which.

There may be a few extra wires if you have steering wheel stereo controls but don't worry about that, just worry about finding each wire I described above and away you go.
