Question about Jeep Cars & Trucks
I've heard the starter is fairly easy to replace, but that the location is in a tricky spot. Where is it located and how should I replace it?

SOURCE: Starter replace
Your starter is below the air box, where air filter is. Remove air box and you will se the starter. Unplug battery. Remove nut (with 12mm wrench) which is connected to the starter, Nut is hidden under a rubber boot to prevent shorting out. unplug a single wire connector, which comes out of the starter solenoid. Starter is beeing held by 2 bolts. Remove 2 bolts, which you will be able to see and take out starter. Reverse procedure to install new starter. Reconnect battery.Start vehicle. The whole procedure should take under 1.0 hours.

starter relay is in power distribution center near battery. don't know which engine you have, but if you flollow the positive cable on the battery, it will lead you to the starter. Most are not difficult to replace, depends on how much experience you have. One tip...dont overtighten wire connections on starter the solenoid cover is plastic and can break.

SOURCE: Can't locate air filter...
Loosen clamp (1) and disconnect air duct at air cleaner cover (3).
Pry over 4 spring clips (5) from housing cover (spring clips retain cover to housing).
Release housing cover (3) from locating tabs on housing and remove cover (3).
Remove air cleaner element (filter) from housing.
