Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

what year,
what country.
engines and spark systems very by all those factors.
generic answer to follow:
1: put crank at TDC mark (0degr) #1 chylinder firing.
2: install distrib. , so that rotor tip points to #1
3: set clamps on distrib.
if the wires were removed, from cap and plugs, sorry gets longer
firing order, and rotor direction are next,
we dont have this car in USA, on this USA forum.

How do I install the distributor on my truck

Hi,what you need to do is turn the bottom pully to the 0 mark then open the distibuter cap,the router arm should be pointing at number one cylinder,if not turn the bottom pully again untill the 0 is lined up,now the rotor should be pointing at the number one cylinder,if not take the distrib out and turn the rotor and put back in if it inlines with the number one lead then bolt it up so it can still just move by hand, get some one to start it up if it starts then put a timeing light on job done,if its trying to start turn the distrib clockwise if it,if it starts good,if not try turning the distrib anti clockwise, ether way it should start, again put timeing light on and when right tighten up distrib, hope this was some help.

Distributor drive

very old post,
you mean pull and put back distrib
or remove its bottom gear,?????????

click 8v or 16valve engine, not stated
http://www.fixkick.com/IGN_timing/index.html

covers all ways to do it right,
and how to un-do the wrong ways..... not fun....

short class
match mark distrib, to housing.
cap off
crank at TDc MARK 0 DEGREES
Rotor in distrib. points to #1 spark wire
if not turn crank CW, 1 full turn back to same spot
rotor is on #1 now ,not #4
remove distrib.
put back ,with rotor, to #1 and match marks aligned
end.
if frisky set timing, now
per above. link, with the timing freeze jumper planted in the DLC connector. to hood sticker spec....!!!!

I have never instaled a distributer before and i would like advice. i have a 1990 chevy s-10 blazer 4.3 liter auto trans

first set motor to top dead center cyl 1 thei insert distrib to first plug point remember it is rare you wont need to ajust distrib just make sure you are tdc and not on an intake or exhaust stroke as every cylinder has 3 strokes
1 intake
2 compression and fire
3 exhause

so make sure you are on compression stroke cyl 1
insert distrib to first cyl point and snug it down just remember you will likely have to ajust it

1987 chevy s10 will not run. changed weak fuel pump and prssure is fine now, swapped out ecm, replace fuel pressure switch, oil pressure sensor, distrib cap, rotor, elec chip on distrib, o2 sensor, map...

It does sound like a fuel problem, try running some jet cleaner through as you may have clogged jets. Sometimes, removal of air filter and placing the palm of your hand over the top of the carb's butterfly valve, will clear blocked jets when engine cranked over a couple of turns.
Also check the float valve is letting fuel in, could be stuck.
I hope this helps.

How do you replace distributor in 66 mustang?

put number 1 cylinder at top dead center then put rotor on distrib to just above cylinder one on the cap. place in. when it fits in firm it should be pointing at cylinder one on the cap of the distrib. if it isnt lined up right pull out distrib again and set alittle furth so when it slides in it points right at 1. as well as the top dead of cylinder one has to be on the compression stroke. so make sure it is on that stroke. by checking the compression. that should fix ya up nicely.
