Would i be able take the body , engine ,transmision and other parts from my 96 2wd dodge ram frame and put them on a 96 or other year 4wd dodge ram frame?

If it is same engine and same transmission. Otherwise computer controls won't work. For that reason it is not a good idea to go different years: connections, sensor locations, computer parameters, all may differ. Research it carefully.

A big project you are thinking of, a lot to consider. Connecting the transmission to the transfer case, getting all the controls in the cab working. Brutal! I wouldn't even consider it, but then I am retired and prize my leisure. Good luck with it. For the amount of time involved, easier to consider a 4WD that just needs an engine or engine and transmission.

2001 dodge ram won't go into reverse

sorry but i dont have good news for you, this is a common problem with the dodge, what has happened is there is a drive drum inside the transmission that has a reverse drive gear inside it this has most likely broken, you will need to remove the transmission oil pan and look for junk inside the pan if you find more then a teespoon of metel in the pan or any brass you will need to replace the transmission......sorry

Will the transmission from a 1995 dodge ram 2500 van fit in a 1996 dodge ram 2500 van?

I don't beleive so, the 95 is OBD I and the 96 is OBD II. Plus you'll need to verify the exact transmission according to engine and 4X4 or 4X2.

1996 dodge ram 2500 auto transmission not shifting properly

Well, first do the service. Pull the pan down and look for metal shavings. If there is metal shavings your in for a transmission. If not, you may have a problem with one of the transmissions shift solenoids located near the valve body.
P.S. The Duramax has the Allison 1000 transmission not the dodge cummins and they are one of the best trannys on the market.

You need to get your tranny rebuilt. The motor that is already in your truck is set up for that Tranny so i wouldnt change it at all as it would cost alot more then you need to spend to do it. . I also would go to Mr.Transmission as they do great work on trannys.

1996 Dodge Ram Transmission shifting problem

I had the same problem with my 96 Ram 1500. I thought I was going to have to pull it out and get it rebuilt or just replace it. That was at 134,000Km it's now got 210,000 and shifting like a dream. What I did to solve the problem was this, as follows:
1. No lucas transmission Fix makes things worse.
2. Get your self a new transmission filter and gasket
3. Grab Gunk transmission medic 12oz
4. Grab 7 Liters of Valvoline ATF+4 transmission fluid (Made for chrysler transmissions)
5. Drop the trans pan and drain all the oil, clean pan and magnet
6. start truck for 5 seconds and the pump will pour out another 1 liter
7. re-install filter, gasket and pan, then add your Valvoline ATF+4
8. Add, the valvoline, transmission medic and make sure you have the right level of fluid

That solved my transmission problems, instantly it was shifting better, I no longer had to let off the gas to make it shift. Now if you have large pieces of metal on the magnet, and it's totally covered in filings, you might want to consider rebuilding the trans. My magnet had usual clutch.

Anyhow good luck, let me know if it did the trick for you.
