The fuel pressure regulator on a 2002 ford is located on the top of the gas tank. To access requires removing fuel tank and attached wires and pipes. More diagnostic tools for cars @ http://www.obd2express.co.uk

SOURCE: my 2000 ford explorer turns over but wont start

yes the fuel pump is running, you know because when you put the key up and ready to start you can hear it. I know just what you are talking about I have had that same problem. It is about a $4,00 part should not be more then $10.00. So open the hood and then go to the fuse box you will want to change the fuel pump relay that is in the middle of power point and pcm power relay. Also there is another that has to do with the fuel and that is called fuel system this part is located on the right side of the fuse box and the other is on the left.
I hope that you have every thing work out for you please let me know what happens I hope it works out well.

SOURCE: 2000 Chevy Venture Fuel Pressure Regulator

use the pressure test port on the top of the engine, it is on the fuel rail that supplies fuel to the injectors, looks like a tire valve, will have a plastic cap on it.

2000 explorer won't start cranks OK, drove it to the store with no problems got back in won't turn over to start.

Try some starting fluid, if it wants to run then you need to check the Inertia switch. The location of this switch is behind the passengers foot kickpanel.

There is a Reset button that you push and it will reconnect the fuelpump. Please rate my info. You can try the Reset without testing with starting fluid but the fluid verifies fuel starvation as the problem.

Did you check fuel pressure with old pump, then the
new one, change the filter & install a quality pump

Not likely but the pressure regulator maybe so,so
Have to have about 40# at engine

Need spark plugs not over 3 years old & new front
o2 sensors every 100,000 miles

WONT WHRIL OVER TO CRANK UP AND SMELLS GAS

[ Start over ]

The engine won't turn over at all ?

Or it just won't start ?

You have to know what the main issue is
& how to diagnose,we can only guess
up to a point.

Also-- what about how it has been starting &
running for the last several months?

What about preventative maintenance--spark
plugs,O2 Sensors,fuel filter,fuel pressure,stored
codes, fuel trim when it did run.

Those are things a professional checks, hopefully
on a road test with a scan tool & a helper along for
the ride.

My 2002 ford explorer wont start in morning or when its cold but when warm it runs and starts fine fuel pressure valve only trickeling gas

The weather or outside temp are not the issue at all

The truck either works correctly or it doesn't

The valve on the engine is called a Schrader Valve
It is only to hook up a fuel pressure gauge

That is what you do next

It would seem from your description, that a check valve
in the fuel pump assy, inside the fuel tank is leaking.

It will start but takes time to build up pressure & then
drains back when the ignition & thus fuel pump are off

The fuel rail, the silver tubing that has you valve ,is not
staying pressurized.

Unfortunately you may have to drop the fuel tank to
remove the pump & replace a good pump just to get
the check valve that may have failed

So you want to watch the fuel pressure with a guage
or scan tool data if that is listed for your truck

If it won't hold or your not getting the better part of a
20 onces soda bottle full of fuel in 15 to 20 seconds,
then the volume is low also.

I will guess at the pressure you should see & say 38 to
42 lbs.

2002 Ford Explorer ran out of gas put gas in and won't restart. replaced fuel pump and fuel filter still won't start. Cranks but won't start

Most Fords have a fuel reset button. When you ran out of gas you tripped the circuit. Most of the time the button will be on the passenger side by the kick panel. The exact location should be in your owners manual or your local library or auto parts store will have a copy of one for your specific vehicle.

Why my 2002 Ford Explorer cranks but won't start?

two engine systems has things to do with this problem, fuel and ignition.
part of the system you're going to check.
fuel pump regulator(fuel) and if it has spark(ignition).
and/or
have a shop with scan tool to diagnose exactly the other problem(s).

2000 ford sport explorer, will start , will idle, but try to acclerate above 10 mph or 2000 rpms and it stalls

Not much information to go on, but from your description of the problem it sounds like it goes lean on fuel. That could be anything from a clogged fuel filter to a failing fuel pump or pressure regulator, throttle position sensor etc. Fuel pressure is probably the first thing you should check, and it's usually not too difficult to remove the fuel filter if you have the proper line fitting tools. You should be able to blow through the filter with little resistance.
