SOURCE: they tell me I need a coolant temperature sensor

you might have 2 coolant sensors one for the gauge and one for pcm, and if you stop by a part store like autozone they will give you a print out of locations of one or both. did they tell you that you only had one ? ask the part store how many they are showing for your car when you go they will tell you. then find out which one they want you to replace

THE INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR IS MOUNTED IN THE INTAKE AIR HOSE OF THE AIR CLEANER .THE INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR IS INTEGRATED INSIDE THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR.SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM REMOVE.DISCONNECT ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR,THEN REMOVE THE MOUNTING SCREWS HOLDING IT IN PLACE.THEN REMOVE IT.TAKE THE OLD INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR WITH YOU TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE SO THEY WILL MATCH UP AND GIVE YOU THE CORRECT SENSOR.WHEN YOU INSTALL NEW SENSOR,YOU NEED A CODE SCANNER TO ERASE CODE TO TURN OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.

I can't find the location of the crankshaft postion sensor in my 2000 Hyundai sonata

My online Sonata manual shows these possibilities, but does not identify which applies specifically to 2000 Sonata.
Also, when you talk to the dealership parts counter, you'll need to know whether your 2000 Sonata is (a) 4-cylinder 2.4L MFI DOHC engine, or (b) 6-cylinder 2.5L MFI DOHC engine.
Its easy to tell - just count your spark plug wires.

-- begine excerpt from 2000 Hyundai Sonata Repair guide --

The crankshaft position sensor is located next to the flywheel.
The crankshaft position sensor is located next to the flywheel/torque converter.
The camshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the timing belt cover and under the upper radiator hose.
The crankshaft position sensor is located on the driver-s side of the vehicle, down by the lower radiator hose.
The crankshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the crankshaft pulley.
The crankshaft position sensor is located at the front of the engine near the timing belt.

The heater on my Hyundai sonata 2002 doesn't work. The fan works but no heat comes out. How can i troubleshoot this issue?

Are you scanned the PCM for know if have any fault code there? Could be the thermostat (thermostat is located in the housing on the end of the upper radiator hose), also, check for the temperature control sensor during scanning.

It's got all the characteristics of a stuck thermostat or low coolant. First check your coolant level, both in the reservoir and the radiator (with engine cool). If they're not full, you should check for coolant leaks.

If you've got no leaks, then you should check to see if you have coolant flow when the engine reaches operating temperature. If not, then you probably need a thermostat.

Keep us updated.

I have a 2000 hyundai Sonata, 6 cylinder eng. My

The sensor is located on the left hand rear side of the block (near the bell housing). It is held in place by a 10mm bolt. It's to the right of the exhaust manifold (LH - radiator side) on the V6. Once you purchase the new sensor you'll be able to identify it on the engine. The connector to this sensor is located in the illustration.
