Question about 1999 Ford Escort

1999 ford escort zx2 2.0 dohc question

When asked about the timing mark on the crankshaft, you replied, "Do you have maginifing glasses". Can you post some more info? I did set a tinny mark with a raised mark on the oil pan. But my timing was off and I got the code p1383. I did see somewhere that one person "double checked" the key position was at 12 o'clock on the crankshaft. Is that how it's supposed to be lined up? Thank-you very very much. Justin.

Can i put it back in timing without takeing belt off

If you are asking about the timing belt, the answer is no. There is no amount of adjustment that can compensate for the timing belt being improperly installed with relation to the crankshaft and camshaft timing marks.

Where should timing mark on camshaft be on 1999 ford escort single overhead

Support the engine with the floor jack and remove the right hand side motor mount and bracket. Raise the engine slightly and remove the timing belt cover and the crankshaft pulley bolt and the pulley. Turn the engine clockwise until the crankshaft timing marks are lined up. There is a triangular mark on the crankshaft and a plate with a mark at 12 o'clock on the block. The camshaft has a triangular mark on the sprocket and a dot on the block at 12 o'clock that must line up.

I want a diagram of the timing belt for a 1999 ford escort 2.0 engine

Here are the pictures for the SOHC and the DOHC. If your working on a DOHC engine: A camshaft alignment timing tool (No. T94P-6256-CH or equivalent) and a crankshaft Top Dead Center (TDC) timing peg tool (No. T97P-6000-A or equivalent) are required for this procedure.

What are timing marks for a 1999 ford escort sport

Are you changing the timing belt? If you are then you need to make sure that the mark on your valves and crankshaft are aline.

If you are timing your engine then the timing marks are on your flywheel and you need a timing light to sync it. Good Luck
