SOURCE: Check Engine Light. I have a 03 escalade that

Your fuel pressure is WAY to low, it should be at least 55 PSI, (spec is 55-62 PSI) You will need to replace the fuel pump and the fuel filter then clear the codes and retest, the fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be removed to access the pump. after the fuel pump is replaced if any lean codes come back from the O2 sensors the intake maniold gaskets will need to be replaced as well, they are a common problem as well but your main problem is very low fuel pressure, this alone will set all the codes you have.

2006 cadillac cts turns of after 5-10 seconds of running, engine stumbles usually when warmed up

Sounds like an O2 sensor problem, and I would start by replacing it. When the engine first starts and it is relatively cold, it goes into open loop mode and does not use O2 sensor readings to control fuel flow (uses various preset values for these and other sensors instead, and the engine should initially idle at 900-1000 rpm). When the engine warms up, the computer goes into closed loop mode and does use these readings. If if the O2 sensor is faulty, it can cause the problem you describe.

There are other causes for fuel delivery problems as well - bad gas or water in the tank, failing fuel pump, kinked fuel line or a plugging fuel filter, failing pressure regulator, a fouled or failing injector, problem in the EVAP system, etc.

1990 Volkswagon Jetta won't turn back on after long drive.

Then you have a start up problem and it reside with the cold start valve,The cold start valve operates even if the vehicle is warmed up,the cold start valve can be plugged up,or even have a bad connection,The cold start valve operates by a thermotime switch. This switch located on the near bottom of the radiator may have gone bad or disconnected,Here is the easy cost effective route, replace them both,it will cost more to trouble shoot it than just replace it.

Hi,

I'm Ben and -- hopefully -- I can provide some meaningful assistance.

In my opinion, the problem lies with you P0174 reading. I'll explain.

OBD II Fault Code

OBD II P0171
OBD II P0174

Fault Code Definition

OBD II P0171 Fuel System Too Lean (Bank 1)
OBD II P0174 Fuel System Too Lean (Bank 2)

Symptoms

  1. Check Engine Light will illuminate
  2. In some cases, no adverse conditions may be noticed by the driver
  3. In other cases, there may be performance problems, such as a lack of power on acceleration and some "coughing" or misfiring
  4. The vehicle may have trouble idling, especially when warm or when sitting at a stoplight

Common Problems That Trigger the P0171 and P0174 Code

  • PCM software needs to be updated
  • Vacuum leaks (Intake Manifold Gaskets, vacuum hoses, PCV hoses, etc.)
  • Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF)
  • Plugged Fuel Filter or weak Fuel Pump
  • Plugged or dirty Fuel Injectors

P0171 and p0463

Replace the fuel pump module (inside the fuel tank) it has 2 level sensors on it. The po463 code is an open condition on the high level sensor, one sensor reports to the ECM, other to your gas gauge on the dash.

Fuel pump not running only in cold weather

Pumping the pedal on an injected engine does nothing, except varying the air intake amount. I would change the fuel filter (if badly plugged, it may be causing the pump to shut off early) and clean the idle air control valve.(which should regulate idle air flow, eliminating the need for playing with the pedal) The valve itself is not difficult to service, but is a bit delicate. It can be cleaned with carb cleaner. just make sure you do not turn the valve end around while cleaning, and re-install it perfectly straight. You may have a bad drain back valve in the pump, but this is less common than what I outlined above.(there are tests for this)
