This is not an easy job for the do it yourselfer. You have to remove the timing chain and the exhaust manifold.

Firing order for a 97 pontiac grand am se

For the 1997 Pontiac Grand Am:
I do not know if you have the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder or the 3.1L V6. However I have included both below. I suspect based on the SE Model you have the 3.1L V6.

For the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder:
Firing Order:
1-3-4-2
Cylinders:
..........(back).........
|...1....2....3....4...|
..........(front)

For the 3.1L V6:
Firing Order:
1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders:
......(back)........
|...1....3....5...|
_____________
|...2....4....6...|
......(front)
Ignition Coil Connections
_____..____...____
|..O..|..|..O..|..|..O..|
|.5..2|..|.3..6|..|.4..1|

Let me know if this helped.....

What motors will fit my 2001 grand am se? I need a rebuilt and there are none in my area that I can find as of yet? it's a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder

2.4 liter 4 cylinder is the only motor that will "fit" the car unless you are willing to change wiring harness, computer, motor mounts, exhaust system, etc just to mention a few points.

Where is the 1998 Pontiac Sunfire SE fuel filter?

Dear Oilzum, The fuel filter on most cars of that era are back by the fuel tank(where supply line comes out of tank), and usually on the inside of the frame. Find the fuel line from the tank towards the engine and you will find the fuel filter. Most are around 6 inches long and 3 inches around. Call me back if you need more help. quicbric(volvo man)
