Question about Cars & Trucks
When its running its fine but when you turn it off the lights remain on until the battery dies or is completely unplugged. I've pulled the fuse and tried turning off everything else but it still doesn't turn off the brake lights. Trying to fix before he comes home please help.
Here's a link to the stoplight switch,it's connected to the brake pedal, will have to get down there and push pedal in with hand and observe switch to see if it is engaging.May just be loose.http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/2004-Chevrolet-Silverado-3500-2WD/Stoplight-Switch/_/N-jlyw5Z9cias?filterByKeyWord=stoplight+switch&fromString=search

There is a switch located on the brake pedal up under the dash. When you depress the pedal, the pedal arm allows a push-button to extend out, making electrical contact and illuminating the lights. Sometimes this will work its way out of adjustment, allowing the lights to stay on.

SOURCE: BRAKE LIGHTS WONT TURN OFF
if you follow your brake pedal up youll see usally a white colored plastic a plunger type switch it looks like a threaded rod thread it until the brake lights go off ,youre trying to push the plunger in,turn it just untill the lights go off,if it does it again its probally skipping on the threads and youll have to replace it

I had a similar problem with my 04 grand cherokee special edition. It was a 20 amp relay. The relay blew causing my brake lights to not work, also my power seats and sun roof. Its located under the hood on the passanger side. Its a red relay.. Possibly that..
