Some you just have to drop the main hose from the waterpump and have a big pail ready to catch the mess .

I'm leaking anti freeze out of what appears to be an overflow tube going up the side of my radiator coming off the drain plug.how do i fix this?

if it is a hose that comes from the drain point of the radiator, then most likley the drain is not tightened properly, or has dirt in it.

Where is the radiator drain plug is on 2001 golf tdi

Hi there,

The radiator drain is accessible with the bumper off. It's on the left side (driver's side). The coolant is normally drained by pulling up the clip (you don't need to take it off) on the plastic end of the lower radiator drain hose, near the radiator, and pulling the plastic end of the hose straight off, wiggle a little but don't break off the radiator plastic nipple!

Glad to be of help...

I have a 2004 chevy suburban 4 wheel drive in need of changing the antifreeze and not sure where to drain old coolant and to add new coolant.

Not all cars have a drain port. if there isn't a petcock or plastic plug at the bottom right or left side of the radiator, just take the lower radiator hose loose to drain. OK?

  • Install a tube on the radiator drain. Place the end of the tube in the drain pan.
  • After the engine cools down, remove the radiator cap.
  • Completely open the radiator drain ****.
  • Allow the coolant to drain from the system until the flow stops.
  • Place a drain pan under the block drain hole plug.
  • Remove the drain hole plug from the engine block.
  • Allow the coolant to drain from the block until the flow stops. There may be more drainage from the radiator at this time.

How do you drain the radiator on a 2001 blazer

There is drain plug on the drivers side of the radiator at the bottom, but the safest way is to just remove the lower radiator hose on the passenger side to drain the radiator. The drain plug is plastic and it may crack due to time and heat and you'll have to buy a replacement radiator drain plug, for this reason most newer radiator don't come with a drain plug and if you want one you'll have to install the drain plug kit. If your radiator doesn't have a drain plug then you have the newer radiators install already as the older radiators we still being installed until they were all gone and the new ones were installed.

2001 sable where is the radiator drain?

The radiator drain is going to be on the driver's side along the bottom of the radiator. Best is to remove the lower radiator hose to drain the coolant. Common for the plastic drain plug to break when trying to remove causing you more work and to go out and locate a replacement drain plug. That's why 99% of garages will drain the coolant from the lower radiator hose.

How to fill radiator fluid in 2003 suburban 2500

I generally have stopped even looking for the drain...half of them don't work right even when you do find them. Far easier and faster is to remove the lower hose. If you have a closed system with no cap on the radiator then fill through the reservoir, otherwise fill through the radiator and add to bottle after you are finished. Run the heat on high while filling and wait for thermostat to open and level to drop before final fill.
