Could be your oil pressure switch,it's located above the starter, easy to remove, unplug electrical connector, get wrench and unscrew, counterclock turns and reinstall.Make sure part is identical.

What would leak oil onto the starter

the oil leak could be a bad valve cover gasket needing replacement, a head gasket leaking oil, a leaking intake gasket and oil running down along the engine block and dripping. it could be an oil pressure switch that is leaking. it is near the starter while driving or engine running can spray oil onto the starter. unless the oil leak is very bad and has been leaking a long time onto the starter will not cause it to act like a dead battery even then not likely. have a starter draw test down to check condition of the starter.

Why is my oil filter leaking onto my starter?

Check the seal on the oil filter. If the seal is torn or missing it will leak and the oil leak will cause loud noises when it's in gear.

Coolant leak under starter

If the water pump is near the starter it is in the
wrong place,it should be on front of engine.(sorry)
You could be loosing water from a pipe above the starter
one which goes to the heater.Although minor,it is leaking
onto starter and you do not want that. You must cover or
put something over starter to stop it getting wet,and this
is URGENT like yesterday. You will short the whole car
if not.
LUCK

Oil & fluid leaking on starting.

Dear leaking fluid on starter, I suggest that you inspect your engine fluid resevoirs and assess from the lowest one to see if its fluid matches the fluid that has leaked onto the ground. i suggest parking on a large piece of paper or plastic to collect your sample of leak fluid. that is where i would begin. in my opinion, sounds like a leaky valve cover gasket or coolant system leak, ie, waterpump, heater hose. rad hose.....

Turbo mal-functioning. Shortly after, starter malfuncting. Could the two be related? I hear that the bad turbo pushed out oil which could get into the starter.. true?

Pushed out oil that got into the starter? Not likely. The starter sits on the side of the engine block outside of the transmission and turns the flywheel or pressure plate. Unless the turbo is right above the starter and has a extremely bad leak that was leaking directly onto the starter but even then I don't think it would cause the Starter to suddenly stop working.

Rreplaced battery car will turn over but not fire

My Dodge did that! Turned out that it was oil falling onto the starter. My heat shield had dissintegrated and I had an oil leak...The only way to start it was to use a broomstick and hit the starter while turning the key...lol.
I gave up and went and had a new starter put in,a heat shield, and got the hose fixed that was spraying oil onto motor...
I'm not saying that this is what's wrong with your's however.
It could be spark plugs,starter,etc.
Have you checked for any leaks? The spark plugs?
Just a few things to look at before calling a mechanic. Hope this helps.

Oil leak somewhere abouve the starter.

It could be transmission fluid. This can leak if not sealed off and they smell similar. If you can get some of that leak on the ground and a good amount, put water onto it. If it turns pink it's transmission fluid. If it stays black the oil line may run under there somewhere. Don't really know about them German cars.

4th starter in 1 1/2 years on a 2002 sable

Ask the mech to dissassemble an old starter if it is not turned in for a core. If it is an oil leak are you using a lot of oil to keep it up to the full mark on dipstick. The copper windings in the starter may be soaked with oil, and the oil will attract road grime and dirt and be so clogged that the brushes cannot contack windings and clog up the whole works. Check to see if the valve cover gaskets are leaking down onto starter, they may have vibrated a little loose and just need tightened or replaced. Can really be the only thing that would go wrong with the starter, unless your battery is way to small or way to big. Check CCA, Cold cranking amps with the owners manual for replacement battery size.

who do i contact to sue gm? after the n.h.t,s.a told gm on 5-23-73 to recall all 1993 saturns gm refused 29 days later i was in a accident that the n.h.t.s.a wanted recalled for a serious saftey problem i suffered a permanent tramatic brain injury and i wrote a letter to mary barra gmsc-e-o.she handed my letter to a jeffery koppy gms lead counsel who replied by a letter to me that was the old gm and because we filled bankruptcy in 2009 the new gmis not taking any futher action in regards to your letter.it took the feds to get gm to finally get the car recalled on 8-10 93 while i was still in the hospital.it gets worst i was a employee for gm at the time.because of my head injury i can't ever work again. i still had 17 years to work for gm and to get my 30 years to retire which was to be may of 2010.instead i had to retire a little after the accident.the day after accident iwas supposed to sign my transfer papers to another gm plant in michigan i was employed at their wentzville mo. plant because i was in a coma for 3 weeks and in the hospital 3 months that transfer never happened and the house we had at the time of accident was all ready sold. we had to get a lawyer so we could remain there. because my one car accident happened so close to where we lived.it happened on the i-70 expressway in warren county in the city of warrenton mo. all our neighbors knew about it. i was told by my doctors to try and do phyical therapy as much as possible.so my wife took me for a walk almost every day.but all our neighbors knew of what happened to me they just staired at me every day.it made me feel like a freak.so we sold the house and moved to the country.and if all that wasn't bad enough when my youngest daughter finished nursing school she asked me if i would co sign a loan for her in 2002 for a new car i still got my gm discount and because my brain wasn't right i told her to go to the gm dealer in the city i lived in because the sales-man was a very good man. and over the years we bought new cars from him i felt we were good friends.the car my daughter bought was a lemon from the time she bought it.it had nothing to do with the salesman or dealer. it was a 2002 chevy malibu.well one day she gave a friend a ride home and as she pulled into friends driveway the ignition just turned off.like it did to those 124 people who died because of a problem gm knew about for a long time. my daughters ignition failed in 2004 so she had the car towed to the closest dealer .they said the ignition was bad and said she needed a new one so she told them to go go ahead a replace it even gm had long knew of the problem she had to pay to get it replaced.then if you's can believe this about 10 years later i think it was 2013 or 2014 she got a recall letter telling her that the gm dealer put in another bad ignition.try keep sending her recall letters.but with gm almost killing her dad plus alot of other people wih cars with bad ignitions. she said theres no way gm will tought her car as usual it wasn't running any ways.so it just sat there and she got tired of looking at it and she just called the junk yard i forget how much she got but said she was just glad it was gone and could never hurt anybody ever again.but i'm not dead yet and i still want gm to pay me for what they did to me.as far as i'm concerned gm should be forced to stop making cars.think of all those children who lost their mother or another family member because of gm.i guess so many companys are out for the most money than can make their using defective parts. before i sign off i would like to say the plant i worked at in wentzville mo.had the most inspectors and process assurance inspectors that it almost impossible for something to slip by.i can see if a car rolls out missing a nut or bolt from time to time but there is no reason anything saftey related to ever be missed, from what i found out about the saturn car that almost killed me the bad positive battery cable that shorted out every thing in the car like air bags and abs brakes with no air bags to deploy thats why i was ejected head first out thru the front windshield.i'll bet it hurt alot but doctors said i was knocked out instantly.BUT just because i was in a coma my wife who is a nurse said i was thrashing around moaning that they kept giving me alot of morphine shots.so i'm very tired now using one finger to type on computer.so before yous buy a new car make damn sure there aren't any recalls on it jay teffer signing off.watch what car you decide to buy!!!!!!!!!
