Question about Chevrolet Cars & Trucks
I'm troubleshooting why my cigarette lighter and auxiliary power outlet in my '06 Silverado don't work. The fuse is good, so I started checking the wiring. The harness right on the lighters is not connected to anything, but I didn't see anything it could connect to. Where is a likely spot the original harness ended up? If I have to replace it, where does the harness run to from the cigarrette lighters?
The harness end is there taped to the main dash harness somewhere under the dash near the power points.

Look in your manual for the Power Distribution Box reference in Roadside Emergencies, page 210. It should be located under the hood on the driver's side. My 2002 Explorer has two power points on the center console and the 20A fuses in the Power Distribution Box for them are number 7 and number 9. They cost $3.99 each at AutoZone. The cigar lighter fuse under the dash is unrelated.

SOURCE: cigarette lighter doesn't work
before u pull panel, check for 12vdc with voltmeter inside lighter socket. If u have it, then clean contacts and/or replace lighter(not socket, wiring is fine) May save a lot of work. If you don't have voltage are you 100% sure you have right fuse and not the one below, above, or next to it? I still make mistakes with numbered fuses, which number is for which fuse. To make sure I start counting at 1.
