SOURCE: I changed the brakes how do I reset the brake

some vehicles have a sensor that attaches to the brake pads and when they wear to the point that the sensor touches the rotor, it'll wear the plastic off the sensor and touch the metal inside to trigger a replace brakes light on your dash. im not familiar with the prius's system, but if you had a wire going to your brake pads, you'll need to replace it. once the sensor is triggered, it's no good anymore.

My 2007 Toyota Prius ABS light came on so we took it to the dealer. They are saying we need to replace the ABS and quoted $2500. Does this seem high to you?

The abs is part of the safety system in that it stops the wheels from locking up under heavy braking. This allows you to steer the vehicle out of a bad situation. During normal braking the ABS does not work as the wheels are turning and so there is no requirement for the system to work
If you wish to continue driving and are considerate in that you drive responsibly there is no need to race it to replace the system. I would seek a second opinion from an accredited brake specialist shop as the dealer may only want to sell parts and not repair the unit

How do I erase the ABS and VSC codes in my 2007 Prius

Why would you do that?

You need ALL Data (codes) to diagnose the
Systems Problem & make the repairs

If it has no problems, the dash MIL Lamp will go
out, when the system runs the ABS Braking Check
at 16 to 22 plus mph

2004 prius left rear wheel cylinder will not actuate. no brake fluid being pumped to the cylinder when you step on the brake pedal. all other brakes work fine.

have a friend press on the brake pedal while you open the bleed screw . If you are getting fluid out then it will be that the cylinder pistons are seized in the cylinder.. Have an accredited brake specialist shop check it out.

How do i adjust the brake pedal on my 2007 Toyota Prius

your rear brakes are shot as they are the tightest
the fronts should grab hard when you press very hard
if they are mushy you need brakes bad
you should fell very comfortable that you have great brakes.
when you press the pedal it should feel strong after 1inch of play
mush means your gonna die or kills someone.
have your brakes bled as a service this will allow them to test them for you at same time . thats the limit you can adjust brakes.

Red triangle and brake warning after rear strut change 2007 prius

sounds like the battery plugs on the passenger side were disconnected and not connected. I don't think the brake sensor connectors have to be messed with in the wheel wells to change the struts but if you did you need to reconnect them checking for dirt in the connectors. It has been a long time so I hope you found the problem by now.

I have heard that you NEVER need to replace the rear brakes on a Prius. Is this true?

That is TOTALLY false. The rear brakes will wear out just as the fronts on the prius. Have them checked every 20 to 30,000 miles.
