How do i take the pressure off my fan belt on my 1.9tdi 2002 a4. is there a bolt on the tensioner than will release the pressure when turned??

Yes, there is a 19 mm hexagonal cap bolt on the tensioner. See the yellow arrow in the picture below:
tdisline_471.jpg
Put a 19 mm spanner on the bolt and turn it in counterclockwise direction until the fan belt will be released. Then remove old fan belt and install a new one. See the serpentine belt routing diagram for a 2002 Audi A4 1.9 TDI:

F = Fan pulley
Gen = Alternator

Om my 2001 Audi A4 Avant T1.8, I have minimal heat and no indication on my temp gauge. I have changed the thermostat and it made no difference. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

hey mate
going through similar problem myself right now. 1997 A4 1.8 (same vintage as yours I think)

No heat from vents (luke warm at best) - temp gauge never moves.
I've also been getting really poor fuel economy - I think it is linked to this, as the EMU thinks the engine is constantly cold and changes the air/fuel ratio (like having the choke out when driving).

Q: Does your radiator fan come on when you start your engine from cold? It shouldn't come on until the engine is warmed up. If so your problem could be to do with the fan control unit, or the viscous assembly of the rotor itself. Both can be replaced as one modular unit.

I would be curious to hear what solution you came to as I am troubleshooting this myself at the moment.

Hi need to change rear brake light on my 2002 audi a4

After removing screw,you need to prise unit off
Start from inside of unit untill it moves,then push to out side of car to release
The unit will be tight,as it probably has not been removed
The ideal tool to remove is a plastic trim removal tool
A screwdriver will do the job
Refitting,locate slots on out side of car,and push firmly in,replace screw

Where is the Amplifier on an 2002 Audi A4

On my '03 A4 it is in the trunk, on the pass. side. You have to remove the trunk floor and carpet on the right side of the trunk and it is bolted to a bracket. I removed the whole bracket. Dealer wanted $800 US. Found one on eBay for $65.

How can I take the dash cluster /screen out on my Audi A4

You must remove instrument cluster out of car. After that you can take the instrument cluster screen out.

For removing instrument cluster out of car you must remove left bottom plastic cover above pedals and upper plastic cover behind steering wheel, see picture below.

Refit all in reverse order.

1.car stalls out when you put it in gear, mainly reverse. 2.jerks and stalls when starting forward..A4..1.8T 2002 audi 1.8 turbo L4 FI 20V 112,000 miles

Sounds like your TCC (torque converter clutch) solenoid is causing improper lockup, causing the engine to stall. It works similar to putting your hand on a ceiling fan to stop the blades. I believe this is where you will find your problem.

Good Luck!

2002 Audi A4 Avant, Alternator pulley wheel sheared off.

This is the one on the driver's side right? To remove them on the V6 models (when I've worked on them it's been the previous generation V6 models) I remove the large nut on the fan shaft - it's a reverse-thread so you have to turn it to the right to loosen it. Try that out and see if the fan comes off. I do it that way and haven't had any trouble with them yet.
