You have what is called IMR intake manifold runner , on the back of the manifold you will find the sensor but it states that one side is stuck open that is the code try to find the 2 metal tabs the rotate the runner blades and try to rotate them to see if you can close or oper the other , you can take the system apart from the back a couple of either 8 or 10 mm bolts and you can rotate them one at a time that way

try looking at the engine while its running at night. look for electrical sparks around the coil, dist cap, wires, etc. check for broken or missing ground wires. plug wires could also be bad

Can't find mass volume air flow circuit high input

The P0113 code is the Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input. This can be caused by a faulty MAF sensor, or by a problem with the wiring harness that connects to it. Check the harness first and make sure that none of the wires are broken or disconnected from the wiring clip.

The P0103 code is the Mass air flow sensor circuit high input. Since the IAT sensor is built in to the MAF sensor, it makes sense that you are getting both codes. Once again, inspect the wiring harness to the MAF sensor for damage or broken/disconnected wires.

If none of the wires are broken, you will have to do a little work to diagnose the issue, which could either be an open or shorted circuit, or a defective MAF sensor.

I have included the relevant pages from the manual.

Do not use ECM ground terminals when measuring input/output voltage. Doing so may result in damage
to the ECM's transistor. Use a ground other than ECM terminals, such as the ground.

My 98 ford windstar is displaying trouble codes p1537/p1538, along with a misfire on cylinder 1 & 2 (p0301/p0302). what are some problems that can cause this problem?

Codes p1537 and p 1538 are codes for a faulty IMRC valve. They are located on the lower intake manifold.

Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC), Vacuum Control
  1. Remove E-clip retaining vacuum control linkage to lever/shaft assembly.
  1. Remove adjustment screw from the vacuum control (9S514) and bracket.
  1. Remove two bolts retaining vacuum control and bracket to IMRC housing assembly.
  1. Disconnect linkage from the lever/shaft assembly and remove vacuum control .
  1. To install vacuum control and bracket assembly, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten retaining bolts to 8-11 Nm (71-97 lb-in). Adjust vacuum control as described.

    Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC)

As for the misfire codes, Check out the upper and lower intake gaskets. Since you have to take the upper intake off for the imrc valves its just a few more bolts to remove the lower intake. The intake gaskets are rubber seals. When the engine is cold the seals shrink and causes a misfire. when the engine warms up the seals expand and the misfire goes away.

I have a 98 ford windstar with check engine light on the codes are P1537, P1538, PO171 system to lean , and PO 174 what are they?

These are all related:
P1537 and P1538 are BOTH:
Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open
P0171 is Lean Bank #1
P0174 is Lean Bank #2.
On the front of the Intake Manifold there are Plastic Clips. The Clips are currently broken and need to be replaced. Because these are broke the Computer is registering too much Air or not enough Fuel = Lean.
You should be able to purchase these at any auto parts store (call ahead for availablility).
After you replace these, all the Codes should disappear.
Let me know if this helped, or if you have addtional information or questions. Feel free to contact me at!

I got a code 1537 and 1538 showing on my obd2 reader it says intake runner manifold control stuck open in bank 1 and bank 2 i replaced both and still have the same problem truck has a bad miss in the...

I'm assuming you have the 4.2l v6. If this is the case, there are two intake runners per cylinder, one long (torque) one short (horsepower), default setting for these would be long runners or closed.
There is a valve so to speak inside the intake manifold operated by a motor that switches to the short runners when the RPM"s reach a preset point. However there has been a problem with this design, not only with the 4.2's, but the 2.5's and 3.8's and every other motor that uses this design.
The motors go bad, or the valve gets carboned up and no longer moves. If you have a 4.2 start there, if not I'm not sure what is wrong.
Good luck and hope this helps

Need to pull and reed trouble codes for a 1989 honda

there is a jumper wire on the passenger side kick panel, short this wire with a paper clip and turn your ignition to run, the CEL check engine light will flash the number of the trouble code,
long flashes = 10's
short flashes = 1's
so a code read like this
would be 35
there will be short pauses between flashes and a long pause between separate codes,
hope this helps

you dont need to adjust anything on the motor if you have a check engine light you can chech the codes on a 5GEN(92-95) by counting the engine light blink.. how do you get it to tell you the codes.. easy and i will tell you. on the passanger side of the car under the glove box next to the door above the kick panel you will fined part of the harness with a cap on it two plugs will be in the cap one with three wiers and one ithe two. when you locate that plug use the one with two wiers use a paperclip bund it into a U shap and plug it in and turn the key to the on spot (DO NOT START) the engine light will blink out codes EXAMPLE: it will bline two long and one short that =21 one lone and three short +13 after you read the codes and get them you can call an autozone and ask what the code is or you can search WWW.GOOGLE.COM under (92-95 honda ecu codes). if you need help with any other honda needs please let me know
