SOURCE: 2003 jeep liberty air bag light on is it easy to fix

The system needs to be checked for cades. Airbag codes are pulled out of the ECU with the use of a scanner tool. A good auto mechanic shop will have this or you can go to the dealer. YOU SHOULD NOT TRY TO REPAIR THIS YOURSELF,YOU COULD ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG!!!!!

SOURCE: 2003 Jeep Liberty heater fan problem

It is the blower motor resistor. Look under the passanger side dash and locate the fan housing (looks round and black in color. Then locate the resistor it will be in that housing usually withtwo ten millimeter nuts or two simple screws holding it in. unplug the harness to the resistor and remove the resistor. Part store price is approx. 50.00. Note: on aftermarket (not Jeep) resistor sometimes you have to modify the housing a little to get it in. Hope this helps.

Smokes from under hood

First you have to identify the source of the leak. Check the valve cover gaskets if leaking excessively they can leak on to the exhaust where the oil would burn and cause it to smoke and smell. It can also coat the O2 sensor and cause the check engine light to come on.

Burning smell coming from my 2003 jeep liberty smells like a burning candle. Looked under the hood and the smell appears to come from a little electical box mounted on the passenger wheel side

I would take it to a shop right away. Do you see any fluids on the ground after you park or are you low on coolant or oil? This could be a electrical problem on its own. If you don't know what your doing don't go messing around with it.

2003 Jeep Liberty is leaking yellowish fluid. Could it be fluid from the 4 wheel drive? I had it serviced last year.

If the yellow fluid is bright yellow, and has a foul smell when you smell it up close (put a little on your finger and see), then it is most likely gear oil in the differential.

The only yellow fluid at the center rear of the Jeep is the gear oil in the differential. It is probably due to a leaking seal at the pinion seal, (at the front of the differential where the drive shaft connects) which would then run down the differential housing and drip off the bottom. I described the smell before because gear oil is quite foul smelling so if you wet your fingers on the fluid and smell it you might get more idea that it is gear oil.

If it is the pinion seal the drip should be in the middle of your rear tyres.

Have a look at the pictures in this link that illustrate where I think the Leak is coming from...

Jeep 2005 liberty. When I drive my jeep more than 30 miles lots of smoke and burning smell come out. The weird thing is that the oil meter is not indicating it is hot.

Hello....

Sounds like you might have a blown valve cover gasket. That is were I recommend you to start checking. If that is good, check for a leak around the intake manifold.

Good Luck...

2004 Jeep Liberty it pasing oil an prestone that just apend onse

is it leaking, or burning in the combustion chamber? Comming out the tail pipe? Blue smoke is oil, white smoke is water, black smoke is carbon. Smell your exaust; smell like "prestone"? Does the engine over heat? My guess would be a bad head gasket. Is the oil a light brown color?

2003 Jeep Liberty has burning smell when stopped. Have had MIL come on periodically the past 6 months but it would go away. The first time it came on I freaked and took Jeep into my mechanic. He told me a...

You need to find out what is causing the MIL (or CEL). Take it to an AutoZone or O'Reilly's and get the codes read. WRITE THEM DOWN, and report them back here.

I've got a '03 Jeep Cherokee, and one of the main issues I have had is bad evaporative emissions hoses. Chrysler used the wrong rubber formulation.

But, the burning smell could be a different issue altogether from the CEL issue, or may be combined. You will need to locate the source of the smell, and we can help you further.
I will say that if your not very mechanically inclined, you may have trouble diagnosing and making the repairs.

2003 jeep liberty driving fine oil light comes on and car dies

Go to the shop, remove the oil dipstick and smell the oil, ( well maybe first you should get a base line by smelling normal, new oil) if you burned up your oil, it will smell really bad like burnt....well burnt oil like when a car is blowing blue smoke. If it smells really bad like burnt, they are probably telling you the truth and you need to find out where the oil leaked out...if it seems like the oil drained out the oil pan or the filter, the people who changed your oil could be held liable for not tightening down those parts properly. Since you werent burning oil, my guess is that you were leaking it. If the motor will not turn over but you can hear the starter engage, you definatley seezed up you engine. But i really really hope that the mechanics are full of **** and that you do not need to replace your engine. No matter what you do, keep any parts removed from your vehicle to have inspected by another mechanic for review. For instance, if you have brake pads replace at the discression of the mechanic, ask for the old brake pads back and take to antoher shop to see if they really needed to be replaced or not.
