Why are you taking out the old one. Check with any good locksmith. If your door key fits the ignition, you can easily remove a door lock cylinder and the locksmith can make you a new key!!! I'm pretty sure to remove your lock you need to turn it with the key in it (but you don't have one)

LOST ORIGINAL IGNITION KEY ON 1989 MERCEDES BENZ. REPLACEMENT KEY I RECEIVED DOES NOT FIT IGNITION SO ORDERED A IGNITION SWITCH TUMBLER AND NEED TO GET INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO REMOVE OLD...

it would be cheaper to have a locksmith make a key to fit your old ignition lock. I dont know why you didnt do that, before ordering a lock cylinder. Nothing on a MB is cheap. the key is the cheapest thing there is.

Can not shift into park key will come out of switch

When ur keycan be pulled out even when ur running the engine or in the"ON" position. U have to replace ur old key or try to use ur spare key and see if it will come out of the ignition switch!

If it can't be pull out, the problem would be the ignition switch have to be replace, 'cause of eroded copper/brass pins inside the switch!
The problem of ignition switch key pull out would be the weight of other things attached to ur key chain! The vibration when ur running and many times u inserted the key, have lost the LUBRiCANT inside.Minimise the WEIGHT of ur key chain so that in the future the ignition key will not have any problem!
Hope that helps u out!

Lost key for 1993 ford tempo

The best thing you can do is to probably make him work a few odd jobs to start paying you back for the $75 it's probably going to cost to have a locksmith come out to re-key the ignition cylinder. Without the original key, you can't even remove the old ignition cylinder to replace it with an aftermarket one, so a locksmith is probably the best way to go. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that's about all you can do at this point, shy of replacing the entire steering column, or trying to break the existing cylinder so that you can replace it with a new one. Hope this has proven useful. Try to have yourself a nice evening!

Oh yeah...don't be too hard on him. I lost the keys to my '85 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 3 times before I finally learned my lesson. Kids will be kids...but I'd still make him pay for it...lol.
