SOURCE: Chevy camaro engine problem

I had the same problem, so I replaced the fuel pump, it was stuttering like it was not getting gas. Still wouldn't work right, would run for a bit and then it would choke up on me. Changed the mass air flow sensor and she ran beautifully,

The backfire is only a symptom and is caused by unburned fuel entering the exhaust system while the engine is misfiring.
When it gets its 'groove' back, the returning spark ignites that fog that has made it into the exhaust system.

You do need to find the source since that backfiring is raising Cain with the catalytic convertor and possibly the muffler too.

Once it 'catches' again, does it seem to accelerate normally?
If not, it could be only a fuel filter that needs replacing.

If you don't have a code reader, it might be a good time to buy one.

The cost is very reasonable at $20 +S&H:

You can pay double if you really want to though-

Ran out of gas, car wouldn't crank replaced fuel pump, fuel relay, and in line fuel filter and still won't crank on 2002 chevy avalanche

still won't crank ? how's your battery ? starter ? starter solonoid ? if your engine does'nt crank , its dead ! would'nt you check the battery first ? then move on with checking the starter circuit ? seems like your putting the cart before the horse ! first of all, when you run out of gas, you need to replace the FUEL FILTER, your engine just sucked the dirt, garbage, etc., out of the tank. there's plenty of sediment in the tank, don't know how it gets there, but, you'd be surprized ! talking threw experience !!! I operate heavy equipment, its a cardinal sin to run out of fuel !!! you say you replaced the inline filter, which one, up by the engine or the main filter, under vehicle along frame ? are we talking about the same animal, PLEASE CLARIFY !

2001 Durango acts like the gas tank is full during filling cutting off the pump. The only way to fill tank is to pump gas really slow

Chrysler and Dodge have a fuel vapor filter that allows air out of the gas tank but filters the harmful fumes. Usually the problem happens from topping off your gas after the gas pump stops due to the automatic shut off and then putting more gas in the tank (to make the bill an even $50. or to the next $5 increment, or pumping more in just because it fits). Anyway the filter gets saturated with gas, is not able to breath, and causes a vacuum in the tank. Because of this, the anti-siphon ball is not able to float around and sits at the opening of the fuel fill tube and won't allow any more gas to be put in (acts like the car is full). If you pump super duper slow like put a nickel to hold the gas pump handle, it will trickle in without a problem, but it takes forever! Solution, get the filter replaced and don't over fill the tank.

Where is my fuel pump at? on a 1995 chevy camero 3.4 yes ran the car out of gas put so in wont start now what should i do first

Your fuel pump is in the tank. Turn on the ignition, and listen if you can hear the pump run in the tank. It will only run a few seconds if the engine is not running. You can repeat this several times to prime the fuel injection.
