Check for spark at spark plugs, spray some carburator cleaner in the air filter housing then try to start the engine and watch oil pressure

The gasoline has probably turned into varnish. You will have to drain out all or most of the old gas.

I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3100 V6 thats been sitting for almost 2 years without being started, I changed the battery and spark plugs and tried to start it, it turns over but will not start. It...

Odds are the fuel is stale. Gas turns if it is sat for a lengthy period of time. I would suggest :Drain the fuel tank, Take a 5 gallon can of gas. STP makes a product called (Ithink the makes is )Stihl.
It is a bottle you can see a red liquid in. It has a small measuring cup built into the top of the bottle.
Add the recommended amount to the 5 gallons of gas. Replace the fuel filter and if the plugs have not fouled, it should light right off. I'd suggest changing the oil and filter as well.
Good luck

I am buying a Jimmy that has been sitting for over a year. What would you recommend we do before driving it? (IE change oil, etc..)

Check all hoses (radiator, fuel, heater hoses, brake lines, filters, belt, etc). Make certain that you put in at least 5 gallons fresh fuel. Also, check the battery. If there was nothing wrong with vehicle (reason for sitting idle for over a year) then you should not have any problems.

88 190E has been sitting for over a year, wont start. Have cleaned out the fuel, still wont start. An amituir mechanic said it needed a fuel pump and or a fuel relay. (Very costly) Any advice? The car ran...

When a vehicle has been left for a long time without being started it will need the following: New fuel, New battery, change of engine oil, possibly transmission oil and brake fluid as well. All fluids in the engine will tend to settle and separate out over time if left. Ideally you start the engine weekly if you put a car aside.

After sitting 2 years, there must have been some fuel in tank that has probably gone real bad (like shellac) and contaminated the fuel system, plugged up filter etc. Usually rust will form in tank, mixed with stale fuel, it will turn just like mud.

1998 Catera will not start if it sits overnight in cold weather

It can be worn distributor cap/rotor or coolant temperature sensor.
To check it leave car outside, try to activate if it is not use the hair fan and worm up the distributor cap area

If it helps replace the distributor cap/wiring/spark plugs. If it doesnot help warm up the coolant temperature sensor:

and, if no help, spurk plug area.
Also good idea in cold weather use higher octane fuel or regular with octane booster or injectror cleaner added and ask the mechenic to put winter oil (less viscous) for winter time during oil change.
Good Luck
