It means that the computer has detected an error in the drive-train. Something has caused an error code, so the service engine light was activated. Now you need to read the code to find out whats going on under the hood. You can take it to a local auto parts store like Murray's, Checkers, Napa, and Auto zone, and they will connect a scan tool(code reader) and retrieve the code/s that has tripped the service engine light.
