Any fluid above DOT 4 is recommended. Higher numbers are for newer vehicles, and older ones too...not a good idea to mix old fluid DOT ratings with original newer fluids.

'90 F-Series Owner's Guide calls for "a DOT 3 brake fluid that meets Ford's Specification ESA-M6C25-A."

SOURCE: Need fluid specs/types
any of the generic PS fluids will work, avail from Kragen, Autozone etc., brake fluids, use DOT 4, oil, 10-30W, any name brand will fill the bill, Valvoline is my favorite followed by Castrol brand.
Ebay motors is a good source for an owners manual
