Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

On my 2003 Mazda protege, I have just finished the painful task of replacing my alternator. Now that its in I found a loose green/red wire loose. It is wrapped around the two black wires in which the connection is bolted to the alternator (vs the snap-on connection). What is it and where/how do I connect it back on?

hey dennis i have a question for you if you have the time...i came across one of your comments after a very exhausting internet search, it said you were a gm mechanic? Well heres the question... my girlfriend left her lights on and then jumped her car, afterwords the radio quit workiing... no screen or anything.. now im not worried about the code (which is all i have read about on the internet). i went ahead and switched the factoroy deck witih a aftermarket cd player but i still have nothing not even lights on it. any ideas for me sir? your help would be much appreciated. thanks

If it was taped to the harness don't worry about it. All cars have just one production wiring harness, so there are many connectors that go nowhere.

Replaced Headunit with after market one, but now the dash lights don't work, Fuses are fine, everything else is fine. Car is 1999 Mazda 323

Hi, there is a factory wire (red with a black stripe) in your car for illuminating the stock radio. This wire is not to be used in an aftermarket radio, so you need to make sure it isn't connected and also isolate and bare wire with electrical tape. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Wire diagram for the mazda protege stereo what

Sometimes if its the factory harness, you can see fine print on the wires telling what each wire is for. If not, remember, red is hot, black is ground, and your smaller wires all colored purple, brown, gray, green, orange, blue..there will be two of each color, one with a black stripe, that is your ground for the speaker hook up..There also might be a yellow or light blue wire, test that wire for power when the key is off, that is your memory power supply.good luck.

Radio Speakers

Its possible that some wires are loose, considering both rear speakers are not working and not just one. Your best bet is to check for any loose wires behind the front deck or behind the rear speakers.

have you checked to make sure it's not just the bulb ? if it is there are likely two screws holding the lens on .... or you have to lay on your back and reach behind the light and see if you can remove the bulb that way....
