1989 Pontiac 6000 LE

I have a 1989 pontiac 600 LE, 2.8 liter. I accidently let the car run out of gas. After that it wouldnt start, we replaced the fuel pump already and the car still wont start, I think i have burnt the Fuel Pump Relay Switch and I have already bought the replacement but I dont know where the old one is to replace it. Where is the Fuel Pump Relay switch. Ive already taken my dash apart.

Your problem could be faulty fuel injectors? One bad GM Maltec injector with a bad coil will short out a bank of 3 injectors, stalling the car like it ran out of gas. Test and replace all 6 injectors, should have 12-13 ohms of resistance, less is bad (2 to 8 ohms). Test for spray too.

Check AutoZone.com as they have an area where they can tell you where the parts are located on your car.

check to see if the starter is ingaging or making a clicking sound when you have the hood up. If you do not hear the starter ingaging then its your starter but also you might have a ground issue too so use a multimeter if you know how and have one check things with this to see if there might be any short to the ground of car plus there might be bolts lose or missing as well you should check.

What battery do I need for my 1989 Pontiac 6000 LE?

The best thing to do is call an auto parts store, they can tell you what you need.
They will need the year, the model, the size of the engine, if it has ac, power windows, seats, etc.

Fuel Pump Relay Switch

Underneath your hood, behind the passenger side headlight, behind the core support, is a bank of 2-8 relays. One of those relays is the relay needed for your fuel pump. There will also be a fuel pump relay fuse located there. The relay designation should be on the cover of the relay compartment.
