Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
If memory serves me it screws into the trans case on the drivers side above the rear corner of the trans pan

Check with your nearest dealership, there should be a recall on this very issue. Why replace it yourself when the dealership will do it for free, especially in this economy, save your money.
