After that it wouldnt start, we replaced the fuel pump already and the car still wont start, I think i have burnt the Fuel Pump Relay Switch and I have already bought the replacement but I dont know where the old one is to replace it. 1989 pontiac trans with 5.0 tuned port inj. Won't start all the time. Give it a shot of starting fluid starts right up and will run. shut it off and a few minutes later won't start again. any ideas?

Have you replaced the fuel filter? Sounds a bit restricted...also you may have a bit of sludge in the bottom of your gas tank...use gas and water removal treatment additives...I have enjoyed owning more than 15 Trans Ams...:) Worst cause would be fuel pump fading...:(

I have a 1989 GMC sierra 4.3 Liter, fuel pressure

u can do the check the other way around/ disconnect the fuel line that supply the injectors/ put the pipe in a small plastic container to see if fuel is being supplied by the pump and avoid fuel spill in ur engine/ crank the engine for at least 5 seconds see if the fuel squirts with pressure/ if it does then ur fuel pump is ok / blockage is somewhere down the fuel line/ u can check fuel lines by blowing it with air but u gonna need the help of an air compressor.....

I have a 1989 Bronco 2 and it is not getting the fuel right. I think it is the fuel pump. Does anyone think what else it would be. I already replaced the filter. How would I replace the fuel pump?

The fuel pump is in the tank. Drop the gas tank.

1. Support the gas tank with a jack or something
2. unbolt the gas tank straps
3. unscrew the rubber filler neck going to gas tank
4. Lower gas tank slowly and disconnect gas lines
5. Turn the retainer ring that holds the fuel pump in the tank and left out.
6. Drain gas into gas cans to make the gas tank easier to left
7. Replace fuel pump and reinstall gas tank.

Fuel Pump Relay Switch

Underneath your hood, behind the passenger side headlight, behind the core support, is a bank of 2-8 relays. One of those relays is the relay needed for your fuel pump. There will also be a fuel pump relay fuse located there. The relay designation should be on the cover of the relay compartment.
