Question about 2004 Oldsmobile Alero

1 Answer

Shutters and bucks

The best way to explain what my 04 Olds Alero is doing is it feels like I'm driving a standard and letting off the clutch to fast. It's an automatic and has died on me about 4 or 5 times now. I am at a complete stop and begin to accelerate and thats when it starts to hesitate and buck. I've had a throttle body clean done a little over a month ago and that hasn't seemed to help any. I had a computer put on it and the readings for the TPS and IACV had low readings. I understand by one of them being off, it will set the other one off as well. Could this be the cause of it jerking around like it does and which one would be my best bet to fix first? Oh and the car has about 130,000 miles on it. Not sure if thats going to make a difference.

Hello;
Inside trhe transaxle is a convertor lock up solenoid. When these go out, the transaxle acts as you describe. I would have this checked and / or replaced. Hope this helps and rate me high.
Thanks;

Sounds like you could have a bad flex plate that is warp due to heat or bolt installation without the proper torque sequence when installed which can cause the warpage.

2001 olds alero, When I step on the breaks it

Did you also replace the brake pads? If not, the wear from the warped rotors most likely caused uneven wear on the pads (not visible by looking at them, but apparent when you apply the brakes). This is probably causing it feel like the rotors are still warped. I don't believe your anti-lock brakes have anything to do with this.

I need a diagram for the serpentine belt for an Olds. Alero '04.

Click on the link below and enter your engine size. You will get a page with a part number for the serpentine belt and under it, a Routing Diagram. Best of luck.

It should be near the compressor on the low side line. It is a huge pain to get to. Feel along the line, and you should come to the fitting.
