Question about 1998 Ford Contour
Ive got a 1998 SVT Contour 2.5l and there is a hose or line that is gray with black insulation, it has the number 22 on the boot of the line and it is unhooked. where does it go?

Yes, just cut the metal line out, leave it bolted in and just remove the metal so you have enough to slide the bubber hose on, make sure you use a ratchet to titghten the hose clamps down nice and tight.

I think their are a few on a vehicle, but the front one is usually mounted in the center between the grill and the radiator. A small box.

the most probable cause is that the electric fuel pump has failed, to confirm this get a can of spray starting fluid and spray some into the air intake hose of the engine, if it starts u need a new fuel pump.

If it's been sitting for that long, yes the gas goes bad. Drain the tank, fuel lines and even the spark plugs becuase the old gas will foul them too.
Check air filter for free air flow and possible critters living in the intake... two years is quite a while for a car to sit... Also after it's running have your oil and filter changed as well.
