The heater is called a heater core, it uses the coolant from the engine to get heat, there is a fan that blows over the core to heat the car. If you look for coolant hoses that go to the firewall, then you will see where the core is, most cars you change it from inside the car under the dash. Sorry I don't know if this is correct with this model, so either wait for someone who has done it, or go to a parts store and ask, sometimes they know, or check the repair book for you car, but some of them are covered so you can't just read it there.

I have transmission fluid leaking in the passenger compartment of my 94 escort. it has a manual 5 speed transmission. what would cause this

There is no way for transmission fluid to leak into the car. I think you have a coolant leak from a heater core. Have a shop look at the fluid to confrim this.

My 94 ford escort is leaking antifreez on the passenger floor and my car is over heating there is only water in the radiator if i empty it and put antifreez will it stop this problem??

Your problem is in the heater. Maybe just a bad hose. New antifreeze, even the ones that advertise to seal leaks won't always solve the problem.
