Question about Cars & Trucks
I started the truck this morning. when I turned the lights on the truck died and it lost all electricity but the batteries are fully charged. I cleaned the ground wires even to the block and it still does not work.
Clean the battery cables at the batteries and have the batteries tested.

had same problem when my rear wiper motor went out. I had to locate all the rear wiper motor fuses and take them out to stop it. Am now waiting to replace my wiper motor.

double check battery under load and verify it will hold for 10 seconds without dropping out under 10.5 volts , very possible there is a draw somewhere , check this by pulling fuses one by one with amp meter connected until you see maybe .3 volts .1 volt is normal

Most vehicles if you get the car running and unhook the positive battery cable it will stay running that is because it is running off the alternator. if it dies like your talking about I would most definitely say your alternator needs to be replaced. Most likely when you jumped your father in laws pick up there was a bad ground somewhere and your alternator got a surge of electricity and it fried it. Hope this helps.
