Question about BMW 323

My bmw 323i ecu is bad can i replace it with a used one

Car run great then barley gets down the road my mechanic pulled code said it was the throttle body or the ECU it looks like the throttle body has been replaced?

No that is not a good idea, buy a rebuilt one from the dealer, it has all the latest updates.

chack and see if your security light is staying on if so then security is shutting down fire to injectors.
are you gettting spark? pcm needs to see a signal from cam sensor to fire injectors. also when you first cut key on you should see the injectors give an initial shot of fuel

sounds like you an idle arecontrol valve to me, wich by the way is the only thing that really needs cleaned, make sure the air boot is not torn on the smaller part going to that vlv it tears at the bend you will need a mirror to see if in the car still, also check the plug on the same vlv make sure it is plugged in all the way, also also check the connector on the throttle itself the white arrows must be aligned and touching let me know what you find

SOURCE: Car starts then immediately idles down and shuts off

i have had the same problem at times. my car would start and then shut off. but i found that i needed oil and check my oil and it was a quater low put in some oil and everything went fine i notices that everytime the oil is low the same thing happens also depending on the position of the car being park meaning that if you are in a down hill position or up hill position i will do the same. so you have to accelarate for 1 minute to have the oil go up. i hope this works

You need to inspect the spark plugs to see i the engine is running lean or rich. I have seen cars set codes or the O2 sensors instead o setting rich/ lean codes.

119--Throttle valve mechanical fault bmw 323i


Hi there:
Fault Code 119 (77) - MDK throttle mechanical sticking.



The accross DTC P1580 code converts to 3 possible BMW codes, 109, 114 & 119. These all relate to the throttle assembly, which on your car is an MDK, motor driven throttle.


The first thing I would do is make sure that the cable is reinstalled correctly and secure in its bracket. I have seen one or two of these that have broken where the cable attaches to the throttle itself. If all of that looks ok I think you probably have a bad throttle.

1986 bmw 535i runs great until tou go down the road about a block or two then acts as if its not getting gas .it runs and idles but wont take any throttle.fuel pressure is good and there is a new pump and...


It sounds like either the throttle position sensor or the mass airflow sensor are bad-the TPS can be checked with a digital meter, it should give different voltage readings as the throttle is opened with the engine off, key on. The MAF can be cleaned with MAF cleaner, or will need to be replaced. Another, although less likely possibility is a clogged fuel filter.

Hello I own a 1998 323i se bmw. Air intake hose that leads to throttle body was cracked but replaced hoping to fix fact that car stalls after idling for about 45 sec. this has not fixed the problem but...


Your problem is still consistent with an air leak. If the mass airflow valve or the idle air control valve had failed, it should set an error code in the computer.
I would look again at all the air tubing, including the elbow over the throttle valve and the tubing to the idle air control. While you are at it, get some mass airflow valve cleaner and clean the MAF, the throttle valve, and the idle air control valve.

Have the computer scanned Auto Zone may do this for free to see if you have any stored sensor malfunction codes in the system if so this is the way to ease your search finding the culprit, what you explaining sounds like an engine that is "surging" which could be an IAC(Idle Aior Control) motor...code should be stored to verify this...what happens is the inside of this part, that is located in the fuel injector body, has a pintle(pin) that moves forward abnd backward it is controlled by the computerelectronically, the signal it gets, allows the pin to lean out the mixture by having the pintle move backwards off its "seat" thus allowing more air to flow with the fuel mixture then fuel which is determined by throttle position(idle versus WOT..Wide Open Throttle), or to richen the fuel mixture which signals the IAC to move its pin more toward the tiny seat and close off or limit the amount of air into the fuel mixture...if the pin gets carboned up and freezes in one position the engines performance is greatly hindered and thus can cause the syurge/hunting/stalling/stumbling that you describe, over the years I have tried to clean these pins with cleaners etc. but to no avail. it has a 90% failure rate so I just suk it up and replace them, using fuel injector additive helps keep them clean(Chevron) black plastic container.
