Question about 2004 Jaguar XJR-Series
I installed remanufactured alternator by NAPA in fall 2007.
The mechnics checked out the car and sais the altrnator is making the noise..it only happens at low rpms..so now they say I need a new alternator...crazy. Got to be a way to lube or check the bearings ...these things are not cheap.
First..napa will exchange your alternator no charge... your stuck with labor again.....and no.. no internal to external port to lube on most alternators anymore...only place it can be done would be the bearing at the base of the case anyway....your best solution is to use a competent rebuilder rather than off the shelf part.......mainly here..be sure that the alternator is the ReAL issue and not some close (physical) related reciprocating part..(belt ,pulley, a/c, power acc, fan, belt belt etc.... good luck
