Question about 2000 Chevrolet Blazer
I blowered the heat core out by using a hose pipe last year. I tryed to do the same thing this year to my heater core if now it only blower cool air. What could be the problem?
If the heater core is good, the hot -cold switch usually located in one of the heater hoses could need replaced or the cable is bad going to that valve. If it is stuck in closed position, you will get no heat

Sounds like the air "blend" door might be inoperable. This door opens and closes a specified amount to regulate the amount of either cooled or heated air, as requested by the climate control unit. If the door is continually in the position which is bypassing the heater core (cold setting), the air will not get warm regardless of the condition/operation of the heater core. I'd suggest having this component checked.

The heater in your car depends upon a flow of hot coolant going through the heater core in order to get hot air into the car. If the heater core is partially plugged, it will restrict the flow. If you have a head gasket that is putting exhaust into the cooling system, it will eventually get into the heater core. When this happens there is no coolant in the heater core to make the air warm. If the water pump vanes have corroded away the result will be very poor coolant circulation causing the heater to not blow hot air. If your car is equipped with a heater control valve that is not functioning properly, the coolant flow will be restricted. One or a combination of these factors is likely the culprit in your case.
Since you state the 2 things you ruled out, that leaves only the water pump. Is the car running hot? The thermostat may be sticking as well... but im leaning toward the pump.

Your '99 Blazer does not have a water valve. Just a temp. blend door. In other words, hot water should be flowing through the core at all times. Like the other techs said, make sure you are getting the whole system full of coolant. You might even try disconnecting one hose, and pouring water into the heater core itself. On most of these year models, if you listen, you can hear the rush of water through the core when you lightly rev the eng. I have replaced 3 heater cores just last year on '96-'99 Blazers. They clog easily. YOu can blow or flow water through them, but if they don't flow freely, I mean without any restriction whatsoever, they will not get as hot as you want. The thing is tiny!
Here's an easy test: Run engine until temp gauge reaches normal: around 180-200 degrees. Reach back to the firewall and grab both heater core hoses. Are they both about the same temp. and HOT? THey should be. If one is much warmer than the other. You are clogged enough to suffer in the winter. And from what you said: "Brrrrrr" You are getting poor performance out of your heater.
BE sure to check that the blend door is working. Is it cool when you set temp to cool? Blazers go through way more heater cores than they do blend doors, so I'm betting your core is either empty, or clogged. TaterTodd

Unfortunately for you ( i had the same problem) The A/C compressor HAS to be in working order on these cars or else all heck breaks out with the climate control.
If it's a nice car, get a new compressor installed. If it's borderline- get rid of the car.
I paid 2200 to Cadillac to fix the A/C and climate control only to have the transmission fail in my '93.
I dumped the car soon thereafter....

First check the coolant level if the engine is hot check the reserve jug on the firewall--if cold before start up remove the radiator cap and check coolant level add as needed. If the thermostat has been removed it needs to re-installed. It is possible that the heater hose(s) is stopped up. After letting it run for a period of time both heater hoses should be hot to the touch if they aren't something is restricting the flow of coolant the system needs to be drained and flushed. I have also see some vehicles form an air lock in the coolant system causing the same thing. It then needs to be (burped). This can be checked/done by removing the radiator cap while the vehicle is idleing and watching the water level in the radiator squeeze the upper radiator hose to see if the water/coolant level rises in the radiator. When you release the hose you may need to add some coolant this forces out the air. Hope one of these things. These are some of the cheapest fixes and if they don't work/help then you need to start looking at the heat control selector.
