Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My 94 jeep grand cherokee drove fine two days ago i got home and the next day went to leave and had Nonie powersteering at all. Its full of fluid and pump is circulatinf. We drive it to town n back and still no powersteering. My husband drove it to town this morning and when he pulled into store and it was still messed up but when he started it up and went to leave and he had powersteering and it drove fine. What is the problem here anyone? Is my rack pinion going out and clogging up my pump or lines? The pump isnt making any noise at all but since i got jeep when i turn it all the way to the left it makes a liud grinding moaning sound but not when i turn it to right. Any suggestions please!!!???

There is most likely air in the power steering lines that is why it will be selective on working the lines will have to be bled

But what would be causing air ti get in the lines? Iv had jeep a lil over a month and this is first time its happened? And what could the noise be when i turn it all the way to left its a loud horrible grinding sound but as soon as i let off n turn it back other way it quits?

to me it sounds like the pump is starting to go and the air is probably getting in when you turn all the way to the left

try turning all the way to the left and then check to see if the power steering fluid goes foamy after

SOURCE: i have a 2004 jeep

yes when you make the absoulute full turn your hearing like a hissing noise this is normal if this is what your hearing then problem solved but if has a different sound than that like a rubbing sound then check the fender wells to see is there is any rub marks this can be corrected by putting in a turn stopper

SOURCE: turns over but won't start

check to make sure your spark plugs are working. If you unscrew the plug and hold the plug to the engine exhaust manifolds and turn the car over u should see a spark. if you dont then the plugs are bad

SOURCE: 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee Won't start

The crankshaft position sensor was seriously problematic in those old jeeps. It's located towards the top of the bell housing slightly to the driver's side I think.

2000 jeep grand cherokee won't move in drive. I went to proceed from a stop sign and it rolled back like it was in neutral. Reverse is fine.

i would start by checking the linkage and make sure it is engaging, put the vehicle on jacks and have someone shift it and make sure it is going into gear if not adjust as needed.

2005 jeep grand cherokee transmission control system error

Okay, wish you would of listed the code # but thats okay, the way you explained it sounds like the gear selector switch is bad, this switch is located on the side of ******, the computer and ****** think its in d3 this is cause most of the time 90% of the time to a bad selector switch also called a neutral safety switch,

replace switch reset codes and check ****** fluid , not sure how far you drove like this but if fluid is brunt i would have it flushed, not drain and fill but flushed, a BG flush.

I think with a flush and selector switch you will be all set, good day.

I own a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2003 CRD 2.7 Diesel. My problem: I drove one hot day and my powersteering just dissapeared. I have replaced new powersteering pump, checked my new fanbelt, but my powersteering...

if you've replaced the power steering pump to no avail, then i would look towards a bad power steering rack. the rack could be clogged or just a bad power steering rack, located under the jeep. at the center of the front end under the motor, just to rear of the engine.do you see it leaking at any point? if the pumps good, then i would go to the rack next.however i can suggest this if you choose to.these guys are great about helping people, call 1-865-691-3400 it's just jeeps

94 Jeep wont start running after 3 seconds.

It could be the security system or maybe a crank sensor.

Guages when crazy. Now won't even try to start.

You likely have it repaired by now but it sounds like a classic case of oxidized battery or cable connection (sometimes mis-diagnosed as bad battery but cured with new (clean) battery)
