Transponder key will not work

ex my honda civic had a transponder key at one time, but some body cut the wires behind it and it still runs. what happend to the old key and did you buy this one at the dealership?

You have to measure the resistance across the key and get a resistor of the same value at radio shack and jump it across the wires at the security box, this way the security system thinks the key is always inserted. We did this with 1989 firebird some years ago and it worked great.

if the key has been dropped or kept near a high magnetic item (a tv screen)it will go out,use the spare until you can get all keys reprogrammed together

too many variables can cause this and unless you are mechanicaly adept then i can only advise that you call a local mechanic for his verdict
