1999 Ford Falcon - How to fix/replace the mirror glass and backing plate of the driver side mirror unit?

Use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat up the glass. This will soften the glue which holds the mirror onto actuator. Gently pry the mirror off. the actuator can then be unscrewed and removed.

I'm pretty sure you need a new mirror. Strange problem, might be a mercedes thing to be filled with a liquid, but either way you still need a new mirror. Heated mirrors work off an electrical grid, pretty much the same as a rear window defrost

Eddie Bauer mirror replacements

is it an aero mirror with no arms?
Or a trailer tow mirror with arms?
The glass is repalceable. It is mounted on a center post with a ball on it. The mirror has a socket on the back center.
It also has 2 jack srews (plastic) that go into the tiny motors that move the mirror. You can push and pull on the glass and they will retchet, it won't hurt them.

You have to pop the mirror off the ball.

It helps to heat the socket with a hair dryer to put the new one on.
Please rate as fixya if this solves your problem.

Heated mirror on 04 explorer cracked

are you referring to the heated side mirrors? the power output to the side mirrors is no more than a rear defroster on a car, so I dont think it was what caused your breakage. Pressure on the glass might have been the culprit.
